I have my fertility appointment at same hospital that I work in...should I tell them?

I have a similar dilemma to chocci. Cos I start my NEW job next week and I have my last test (TVS...which the last one they lost!) on the 8th Jan at 3.40pm ....I already asked my new lady boss if I could take half day (taking it as A/L for simplicity) ....I told her had an appointment booked from ages ago so I was hoping she would honour that........there was a pause....I could imagine her thinking 'she's skiving before she even started job!! but she said it was fine and she'd make a note of it.

But now I'm worried cos my first consultant appointment, after all the tests have been done is the week after on 16th Jan.........what am I supposed to say?! I daren't tell her about that yet....I'm wondering if I could say that it was a sudden appointment...I could say I have a dr appointment BUT to make matters ......more complicated.....my consultant infertility consultation is at the SAME hospital as I start my new job in! I can just imagine being caught and then they will question why I had lied ...should I just say I have a hospital appointment but not go in to it? .......she might then think there is something wrong with me?

I don't want to tell her all right now as nothing might come of it...well she would know that I am trying for a baby for a start which although people say you shouldn't be discriminated against..you can be and I dont want that. I think I will have to tell the infertility consultant/nurses in case they see me around working in the hospital...I will ask them to keep it confidential...which I am sure they would have anyway.

Also my appointment is at 9.05am...I know this is naughty...but I could show my face at work at 9am and then disappear for an hour for my appointment??....they might wonder where I am ....I suppose I have to tell them.....?! Please help!! Any ideas?

I would just tell them you have a hospital appointment and leave it at that, if they ask mutter something about blood tests being checked out or follow up on a smear test or something. Work have to allow reasonable time off for appointments that you cannot control the timing of. I would mention you have it and see what the reaction is and then maybe volunteer to work through lunch to something to make the time up. Good luck!

Could you tell them that you need to see the gynae in the hospital and that you will come into work at 8 to make up for the hour you will need for your appt? I am sure if you offer to make the time up they will be more than happy chick?x

Thats what i would do
I am thinking of not turning in on monday and then when my boss asks i will say i told you about it before xmas, he is a bit slack sometimes and probably would not rember, besides he may not be in or even notice me missing. If you think noone will notice i would try sneak out??? Its a pain all this aint it

Lol chocci thats funny...I know the things we can get away with sometimes!! Worth a try but knowing me i always get caught...once I wanted to go to a careers fair in my first job and my employer was a dragon....so I couldn't tell him I wanted the day off to go to a careers fair so I rang in sick and left a message for my boss.....then I went to the fair wearing my new heeled black long boots and looking the employee potential .....praying that I wouldn't see anyone that I knew.

The next day, he said, I thought I saw you yesterday....weren't you wearing these black boots yesterday and a black coat?? My jaw dropped.....I knew he had seen me and he knew he had seen me....but I laughed it off and cos he said black boots and black jacket I said 'hundreds of people wear black boots and black coats....mighht have been someone that looked like me!!!!'

Needless to say I never wore them boots to work until I left that job!

He he , well i tell white lies like the above to my boss all the time. Fibbed just before xmas about an appointment, said i emailed him 2 weeks before, he was like "oh, sorry cant have read it??" i said no, you never read my emails ......I HAD NEVER EMAILED HIM!! I think he thinks he is losing his marbles.....infact i keep convincing him i mentioned appointments and he does not remember, i bet he is making appointments with the memory lose clinic hehe
