It's my first day at my new job tomorrow. I feel so awful and guilty that they don't know I'm pregnant!

I start a new job in just over a week, I have to give a long notice period and didnt find out I was pregnant until after i handed in my notice. I will also be 16 weeks pregnant when i start but did tell my new boss when I was 8 weeks. When are you going to spill? Not sure I could hide it as im already starting to show x

You have until your 25weeks to tell them, your not doing anything 'wrong' x

I'm 24 weeks and I just found out I have a 1 year contract and I haven't told them I'm pregnant yet. Going to call tomorrow and let them know!

I'm not showing at all yet so will be easily hidden. I'm not sure when I'm going to say but as I'm care working I will probably have to say soon. Don't want to be doing something I shouldn't. Like lifting someone too heavy. I'm just scared of them being off with me

I'm a care worker, and I would recommend telling them as soon as possible so you can have your risk assessment. It's all to keep both you and baby safe not just from heavy lifting but from any infectious diseases etc. I'm sure your new boss will be fine with it. They can't sack you as that would be against the law. Hope all turns out well x

I've been awake since 4:30am worrying about it :(

Stop worrying, I was in the same position doing care work and was pregnant. I told them after a month of me being there and they were fine about jt. They are used to people coming and going, honestly you will see that. So many people come and leave care jobs...

Also you won't be and shouldn't be lifting anyone heavy it should all be slings and if it isn't then they aren't teaching people to do the job properly. You shouldn't be doing anything physically strenuous x

Manoeuvring the hoist, pushing wheelchairs, rolling people on the bed can all be classed as physically strenuous. Especially for somebody pregnant that's why risk assessments have to be done.

Yes that's true. I guess some people are more cautious than others I do everything I've always done this pregnsncy because I haven't got a choice but with my first I was careful.

I'm assuming it's just training for the next week or so? A lot of jt was shadowing when I did it and then you got involved. Just see if you like it first and if you actually want to continue doing it and then if you decide its something you want to pursue definitely tell them (people either love or hate the job). Just apologise and explain the situation x

Thanks everyone. I told the training manager and she said it was absolutely fine. Just when I go out into the community they'll carry out a pregnancy risk assessment and be more picky about which clients I attend to.

Yeah training and shadowing until 13th July and I was able to do all the training/hoist training today with no problems or strains. So happy that it's out. I didn't say how far along I was as she didn't ask. But yes. All was fine :)

I disagree with the last part of this. Never apologise for being pregnant! You haven't done anything wrong.

Glad all turned out well :) now stop worrying and enjoy both your new job and your pregnancy :) x

I applied for a different position within my company around 12 weeks pregnant not expecting to have a chance and got to the third interview. It was eating me up inside not telling them, but I didn't get the job so it didn't matter. Ive seen the manager a couple times since then (now showing quite a bit) and its really awkward! He must know I was pregnant when I interviewed and didn't say anything. But, its not supposed to matter so I don't feel guilty. At least I know it wasn't me being pregnant that caused me not to get the job. I think if I had told them I would have always wondered..

Thanks ladies. No I didn't apologise I just said I didn't want to expose myself to not getting the job due to it. She understood that. Well she seemed too, probably slagging me off as we speak haha xx
