>:( I loathe whoever posted that hiccups are a sign of a cord issue

I remember reading the original thread on here, I'm sure the person who posted it had read it on a website about stillbirths? I think she was genuinely just concerned, but I too had a wee panic, as LO hiccups 3-4 times a day!

I agree about that post. I too became very paranoid afterwards about LO getting hiccups because she used to get them about twice a day! I also googled and regretted it after - had a talk with DH about it and he was really good. Explained its really rare and baby is ok and I shouldn't panic etc. Then I couldn't help myself and did some more research/spoke to MW who told me it was perfectly normal! So I totally understand x

mine gets the hiccups alot!! she had them at my last scan.. i have been told by everyone that they are a good thing.

baby exercising the muscles they will use for breathing and they are a sign of a strong breather.

i'm sure your little one is totally fine! :)

Try not to worry Hun :hugs:
Easier said than done I was also such a worrier when expecting Isabelle :flower:.

Isabelle always always had hiccups when I was carrying her.... We had no cord problems:thumbup:. She still gets loads of hiccups now, when I mentioned it to the HV she said nothing to worry about whatsoever

Xxx

*sigh* I'm sorry. I had read it twice on this forum and got concerned and wanted to make sure. My son had hiccups a lot but also had cord issues...next time I'll keep everything to myself

My lo gets hiccups a lot too. My mw said it was a good thing and definitely didn't suggest I should be concerned or monitoring how often. She said in her experience if they get them a lot in the womb they also get them a lot as newborns. X

Try not to worry. My little girl had the hiccups sooooo much and she is just fine! She had hiccups the night I had her and I was cuddling her and rubbing her back for her. When she got them when I was pregnant with her, I felt sorry for her that I couldn't do anything-may sound silly but one of the many special moments I will always remember! xx

My son had them all tge time while inside and when he was born he got them all the time.

You were just voicing your concerns from something you had read, don't worry, at least reading the comments now should put ur mind at ease :flower:

They do but having a bad to coming on here being loathed for expressing my concerns is just a bit too much for me to deal with right now...

Sorry, it's not a personal thing, but this makes me angry. My little guy went up until now with only one or two bouts of hiccups...and now suddenly he's getting them a couple times per day. And it's terrifying me. After every hiccup bout, I find myself poking and shaking my belly until I get a response from him to show me he's still alive, and I picture these terrible scenarios where the cord is around his neck during labor and pushing makes it worse.
I wish this were never posted here. I researched it, and yes, it can indicate a problem, but it's extrenely rare that it does.

And I know others now feel this same way.
We should be happy to feel our baby's hiccups....not sitting here in fear that there's something wrong.

That's the problem with these sites sometimes...anyone can just spout off information that they know VERY little about! This is a very rare thing that can happen...and its the last thing that preggo mama's need to worry about!!! To give you reassurance...my baby gets hiccups 5-6 times a day at least!! Its a good sign indicating that baby is swallowing amniotic fluid, and practice breathing! If you are super worried - give your dr a call...but what I do know from my first pregnancy ... Is take things with a grain of salt. Hang in there...big hugs!!!!

No one loathes you hun I don't think the OP meant anything personal by it. That is what this forum is for to voice your concerns and talk to other people about your pregnancy issues. I think no matter what is posted we are all hormonal and worriers so will get affected by some things but that's not to say you should feel you can't talk about it if it is a genuine concern you have. I see it from both sides because I worry about everything lol and the post did scare me but like I said in my previous post there was enough response to reassure me and I know you didn't write it to scare anyone you were just worried. Sending you hugs hope your ok xx

Exactly what lilmisslilly said. I couldn't think of a better way to word it...I don't loathe YOU personally, not by a longshot (I didn't even remember who had said it), I loathe that it was put into my head. Like a lot of ladies, I've experienced a loss, so once you have that, you tend to panic at every little non-issue that arises. Please, I poke and prod my poor baby all day, probably interrupting his sleep cycles, because I want to be sure he's still moving in there. I know that at this point I have a 99.9% chance of having a live baby, but that little .1% chance is enough to drive me up the wall sometimes. :x

I didn't see that post but it is a little irresponsible....but dont worry my LO had hiccups 5 times a day and he is now 20 months old....

EDIT: Anything you read on here and worry about should always be backed up with sound medical advice from a doctor/midwife

I didn't see that post but it is a little irresponsible....but dont worry my LO had hiccups 5 times a day and he is now 20 months old....

Since when is expressing a concern that I read from two different people on this site irresponsible????? So everyone can express their concerns but when I do it is irresponsible???????????????

Its a load of shite. I asked my midwife cause I read on here a few weeks ago that someone was saying that and she said its total and utter nonsense and, if anything, was a great sign as baby was doing what it was supposed to!. x

You will see my edit above as I see you are a bit upset by some people's comments and I apologise...anything ANYONE says on here should only be backed up with good medical advice, thats common sense, no upset intended overcomer79 :flower:

And to be fair if people read my title it did question it...I certainly didn't put it down as fact but asked if there was any truth to it!
