I never thought I would be asking this, but I have actually come to the decision that I am going to put on weight. Don't see how I can even say I am actively TTC when I don't have my periods and after many years off dodgy non appearing periods I have come to the conclusion its due to my weight.

I mean it would make sense right? If my test for PCOS came back negative, and when I first started my periods I was eating a more healthy and bigger calorie intake... Its at least worth the try because if it doesn't work I will still be at a healthier weight.

Now I am 5'5 and I last weighed Saturday and I was just under 7 stone so around 95lbs right? I don't want to go above a size 8 but I am already finding it so hard to put on the slightest bit of weight.
I need some form of diet plan I can stick too.. because half the time I am just forgetting to eat.

I am trying Complan along side meals to put on weight, I have been trying to eat two healthy large meals but I just feel like its not working.. I just need my periods to get that BFP I have been waiting so long for.:cry::cry:

If you need to put on some weight, you need to intake more calories than you burn. You can start slow, maybe having an ice cream milk shake a couple times a day? That's what I've had to do with my son, who is underweight and a picky eater.

Are you naturally that small or is it something you've worked towards? You still need a balanced diet, proper nutrition, etc. But your best bet would be to start consuming more fatty calories. Not to an unhealthy extent, but you know what I mean.

Snacking on nuts and seeds is a good way to get some extra calories. You could carry those with you so that you have some available if you forget to make something to eat.

Try to aim for eating food that is higher in calories (but still healthy), and you should find it a bit easier to put on weight. For example, nuts and seeds, nut butters, dried fruit, beans, wholewheat pasta, wholewheat bread, brown rice, dairy, oily fish, meat.

Hey there, I understand where you are coming from, I've lost 5 stone and am maintaining a weight of 95-100 pounds now, we are planning on ttc this summer, I was afraid of losing so much that I would lose my periods, however I am 5'1 and have a tiny frame (size 2 1/2 feet UK, 5" wrist) I still have my periods thankfully. I know that your periods stop when your body believes you can't provide your fetus with adequate nutrition, therefore your body is telling you that you need to change your eating habits if you really want a baby. What I do is eat little and often to avoid that overly full, bloated feeling. I add nuts and sultanas to my breakfast fruit and yoghurt, avocados, cheese and nuts to my salads, I eat lots of salmon, prawns, chicken and Turkey, if I am having mashed potatoes I use real butter and whole milk but have a small portion with lots of veggies. I fluctuate in weight, sometimes drastically from day to day but understand about water weight etc and it doesn't bother me. You just need to feed your body with the right things, you don't need to binge on sugary, fatty food, just takesmall steps, give your body time to recover and enjoy the benefits of being healthier, hopefully yyou will get pregnant and by that time you will have adopted a new eating pattern and grow a really healthy baby! Good luck!

I second what everyone else has said. Eat calorie-packed healthy foods like nuts, avocados, peanut butter (mmmm), basically everything stated above.

It does sound like you need to gain weight. I am the same height as you but I outweigh you by 20 pounds and I appear pretty slender, I'm actually not too far from the "underweight" BMI, so no question that you are in the underweight category.

Just don't eat junk food to gain the weight, especially if you're TTC!

Ugh please please please don't eat milkshakes several times a day! That is not healthy and not a good diet to start TTC on. Eat avocados, nuts, olive oil, eggs, ECT. Also try weight lifting. It may seem counter productive but it actually makes you gain mass.

It's not as easy as it seems, funly enough. there's a lot of good advice in here already but please don't take the easy way out! eating loads of unhealthy stuff is not a good idea in the long run.

there's a healthy way to gain weight too !

Sometimes its not just the food. Try reducing your stress and reducing your caloric needs overall. I am chronically underweight and can only gain during the emotionally healthy times of my life.
