My little guy is almost 13 months old. We did BLW. Our problem is that he's not really eating much yet. He puts things in his mouth but mostly spits them back out again. He also throws most of everything over the side.

He still bf's a lot. I try to spread it out and have a big gap before offering food after bf. I have also started offering food before milk. He's still not eating much.

The reason I'm getting very worried now is that we're ttc again and I'm very worried about losing my milk. :( I'm hoping to tandem bf and hoping to bf all throughout my pregnancy but I understand that isn't in my control.

Am I being silly to worry? Will he start eating on his own soon?

He eats some things well. He loves blackberries, carrots, dried cranberries, and sometimes toast. It's so hit or miss what he'll eat. I was trying really hard not stress up until now because food before 1 is just for fun but now I'm worried.

What can I do to help my little milky monster?

Have you tried offering variations on things you know he likes, so a casserole with loads of carrots, blackberries in yoghurt, anything on toast etc? If he likes raw carrots, try them cooked, same with other stuff. Bread can be half-toasted so it's not really toast, bagels can be toasted etc, just try and gradually broaden his horizons.

I still wouldn't worry though, just leave him to it. If he does eat some things, you know he *can* eat, so if anything happens to your supply he'll be able to up his solids by choice.

Do you pick up things he throws? I stopped that quite early on. I'm happy that food is fun but "food is fun with mum being a maid picking stuff up" isn't so much fun for me!!! Early on, I would pick stuff up a couple of times because it was usually by accident but by a year old if they threw it they either picked it up themselves or it went in the bin once the meal was over.

Thank you Rachel :)

I try to add carrots to whatever we're cooking that it makes sense to add them to. He will usually pick out the carrots and leave the rest. I am planning to make hummus and then try shredded carrots with that.

He can't have dairy or gluten (just testing the gluten right now) so it limits what we can eat a lot.

On toast he likes natural peanut butter the best but I do make stewed fruit and will put that on there too. He likes stewed apples and blackberries but will only eat a little before it gets tossed.

He also loves blueberries but they are very hard to find fresh in my town. We get frozen and do them in smoothies and pancakes and muffins and anything I can think of. He likes smoothies but doesn't eat much.

He also like chia pudding and overnight oats made with flaked quinoa and chia seeds but again, will only eat a little.

I don't pick up what he tosses over the side until the meal is over and it gets thrown out. That's if the dogs don't get it first. That is probably part of the problem. He loves to feed the dogs but I keep them outside while he eats now that the weather is finally getting nicer. He still throws things over even when they aren't there. He will ask for what I'm eating and take it and immediately toss it over. Even things I know he likes he will toss sometimes.

I know he will eventually eat, right? I mean, he has to. I worry too much...
