I still feel heartbroken

First off, I would like to thank you ladies for sharing with the rest of us. I can't even begin to describe how devastated I was when I had to stop BF'ing. I didn't think I could ever get over it. We had had alot of problems throughout my pregnancy (life threatening illness & a bad car wreck among other things), and in the first weeks of Hudson's life, and BF'ing I felt was the one thing we were doing so well. Even all the nurses commented how well we were doing, and then it was like all of a sudden, it wasn't working for us anymore. I tried so hard, and for so long. There were many times that I would be bawling my eyes out as we tried to feed. My partner was so supportive, but us women just love to blame ourselves don't we? I felt so guilty, like I should have been trying harder or doing something different, but OH comforted me and showed me just how much I love him to put myself through so much. It was so important for me to BF, and I honestly tried as hard as I could. We had some success, and I have to be proud of us for that. It does get easier, but you have to forgive yourself first. That was my biggest problem. The guilt and pressure I placed on myself.

As long as LO is happy and healthy, that is what's important. It's nice that this forum is here, as none of my friends had any problems with feeding (that they admit anyways).

I pretty much decided this evening that I'm gonna go to FF. Why, because after quite a few hours of feeding my LO her falling asleep while doing so, picking her up to burp her having her spit up most of everything she just ate and wake up and not calming down.

Or if she wouldn't spit up when she burped she'd wake up for some reason waking my OH up and having us both pretty much in tears from not knowing what to do. I chose to make a bottle just to see how she'd do.

I'd expressed and knew she'd take the bottle just fine but wasn't sure on the formula but a little over an oz later she was out like a light, even let me set her in her bassinet with no problem.

At first I was feeling quite down about it. But now I feel like my OH can actually help take care of our LO. That although during the week I'm still gonna be the one up and down at night because he works 40+ hours a week, at least I know when he gets home from work and on weekends I can not have to worry about just taking a shower cause I know he can now feed her if she's hungry.

Kinda feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

I spoke to soon about Alexa not fussing on her bottle. it's all gone wrong again and she won't feed properly.
I hope a health visitor or someone can help me.
breastfeeding was such a struggle and bottle feeding is a major stuggle too, I just want to enjoy feeding my baby. I never have

hello

yes you will feel better, i guarantee :hugs:

i stopped trying to BF after 4 days. felt guilty of course. Its hard to imagine now as feeding is a massive massive part of the daily process when so little, but, in no time at all (trust me, it goes quick) you will be weaning onto solids, then, switching to cows milk, then LO will be on 3 meals a day and the bottles/breast dramas will seem a distant memory so hang in there....its not forever!

my dd is 2 now and healthy and strong as an ox and i have absolutely no guilt or regrets now. i am due baby no.2 soon and i plan to attempt to BF after the birth, then i will probably go onto FF again TBH. we'll see.

sorry that you are struggling just now though. there are plenty of things to try though...different brand of milk? different bottles? faster/slower teat? is she windy, try gripe water/infracol etc

its trial and error, you will get there though
