My niece has scarlet fever, and I've been in contact with her before they knew it was this. I looked after her yesterday, my sister said that the doc said not to have her round anyone pregnant, but it was ok after 10 days.... which she said it was.

I had a sore throat last night, which I assumed was left-overs from my gig on Thirsday night, but this morning i have a rash under my right arm, and I've started to get a pimply rash across the back of my neck. I was also feeling really really sick last night, and I sid to my hubby that it didn't feel like preg sickness... :(

I'm really panicking now... I've just had a call back form the on call doc, and they want to see me at 11:45... I'm really worried that it'll affect bean :(

Hi anne-marie. Sorry to hear your poorly! Try not to worry though most cases of scarlet fever are said to be mild therfore have very little risk of effecting your baby. The doc may prescribe you some anti-biotics(one suitable to be taken in preg).
Just try and drink plenty of fluids to keep your temp down, if you feel you have a temp take some paracetemol.
You'll be fine :hugs:

Thanks :)
I have just read that if it's in the first tri, it could affect the developing babe, but I'm 12 weels tomorrow, so abe is fully formed now....

Im sure you will be fine! I think it depends on the stage of the scarlet fever and how vulnerable you are, you did the right thing phonin the doc but im pretty sure you an bean will be just fine!!!

:hugs: I really hope you feel better soon and maybe it will turn out to be something else. I think luckily baby is just big enough to be safe. :hugs:

Well... I went to see the doc, and she said that the rash looked alot like shingles, but I have it in too many places for it to be that . I was so sick before I went down. She was a bit mystified as to what it could be, but said it's definetely not scarlet fever. She had a feel of my tummy too, and said that she couldn't feel my womb at all yet above my pelvis... thats worried me a bit :( I'm gonna go to the drop in om Monday and ask if they can try to find the heartbeat.

Good luck Ann Marie! I know everything will be fine! I am glad to hear it isn't scarlet fever! :hugs:

Good luck for Monday :hugs: Glad to hear its not scarlet fever

Good luck, sweetie. I hope all is ok with your LO and you as well! :hugs::hugs:

d'ya think i should worry that she couldn't feel my uterus yet ??

I'm not sure hun. But you are just on the edge of being 12 weeks - yes, one more day. They say the midwife can usually feel the uterus at 12 weeks. Perhaps yours hasn't risen yet but will do so in the next few days. :hugs::hugs:

Sorry your feeling rubbish Anne-Marie. :hugs:

I wonder if they can feel it because like Lee-Anne says you're just nicely 12 weeks and it's just about to 'pop up'....

Keep us posted hun. x

I had it when I was a kid, and I remember my palms peeling so badly in conjunction with the throat issues.

ouch !! No, she said it's not scarlet fever.... it's a mystery

How ya feelin' today Anne Marie?

I feel absolutley fine today... just the usual sickness. All I have left from the rash are little red bumps... they do look just like bites... and they don't itch anymore. My throats not too bad either. I was sooooo thirsty yesterday, I drank about 4 ltrs of water !!! And haven't peed that much either. Really weird, must have been really dehydrated.

Thanks for asking :hugs:
