I think we may be done

I have a question though. I'm getting pain in both breasts that comes and goes. It's a sharp pain that starts at my back and goes right through to my nipple. It feels like it travels right through me. I get it for a few minutes, then it stops. This happens quite a few times a day, but isn't connected to feeding times. Any ideas? Do you guys think it's connected to my milk going?

Just wanted to say what everyone else has said, if it's time to stop, so be it. You have done so well to get to where you are now and you shouldn't feel bad about it (easy for me to say, I know). x

Thrush can have a sharp pain shooting through the breast :(
Have you checked Niamh's tongue?

No idea about the pain.

If you are wanting to keep bf you could try domperidone tablets. They work best in the early stages (up to 14 wks or so) so you are right at the cut off point now! I had good success with them starting at 12 weeks ish. I bought mine (motilium 10) as I couldn't get them on script but you may be able to get them on script depending on your doctor. They are about £5 a pack of 10 tabs and the recommended dosage is 3 x 3 tabs a day but I found once I got my supply up a bit 3 or 4 tabs a day was enough to keep me going.

You have done so well hun and i think that your supply is probably going down because with one thing and another you've been under so much stress lately.
I would agree with mervs mum about doubling up the fenugreek and its easy for me to sit here and say but try and have some chill time with Niamh, like other people have said cuddles in bed or even a nice bath together should help a bit. Good luck sweetie xxx

Don't give up hope - drink lots, rest as much as possible and eat lots of oats and keep going with the breast stimulation. It could very well still pick up.
I read your other thread and I think you are just AMAZING. I was tremendously moved by your dedication and perseverance. You are such a brilliant mum.

I'll second that.

I've had this. It is hard to pin down the cause. It might be mechanical (ducts etc) or possibly a yeast/thrush thing. I still get it now despite some pretty heavy handed treatment for yeast so I am convinced it is mechanical, especially as there aren't any other signs of yeast and sometimes it goes away for days at a time.

Yep me too, you are an inspiration to me xxx

You have done brilliantly, and I hope you are able to continue. You should be incredibly proud of what you have achieved thus far :hugs:

i get the same pain in my boobies. dont have a clue what it is tho! u havin any more luck today? xx

Arrrgh I wrote a huge reply and my computer deleted it :dohh: Here's the short version:

The pain in my breasts hurts when Niamh BFs, but feels better at the same time? I'm wondering if it's a blocked duct, as her tongue looks normal?

She BFed this morning. Took us forever as she dropped the latch every 10 seconds, but she's not rooting around anymore so she's had her fill.

Nothing from the right side today, even after feeding and trying hand expressing. I'm going to chase up the hospital today.

Sounds like it could be a block :( If it is you need to get her on as much as poss to relieve it or pump - chase the hospital hun!

hun if you contact medela they will get a double pump to you the next day. It is £40 for a month, but that would be long enough to get your supply right up with double pumping.

you r amazing xxx

you could try alternating warm and cold compresses and massaging the part of the boobie that feels sore. It worked for me when I had a blockage.

So sorry to hear you've been having a tough time of bf! I have no advie sadly. Only that with thrush, baby can bob on and off the boob, and baby doesn't have to have visible signs of thrush to have it (as I found out), but it sounds like that has been discounted.

Really hop eyou can get some help or support through this. If it's time to reduce the feeding, just remember how much you've achieved. I could not have stuck with it that way you have!!!

xxx
