I have asked for a home birth as I want my husband and daughters with me when I give birth. We moved last year so have nobody to watch them if I have to go to hospital. I had quick labours with both of them(90 mins and 40 mins)so might not even make it to hospital, or my husband might not make it home from work on time.
Doc said if baby is measuring below 95th centile at 34 week scan that I can have a home birth but he thinks baby will be big(due to weight of my daughters at birth).
I am not worried about giving birth, but starting to worry that my husband or daughters won't be there to see it as my girls probably won't get in delivery suite xx

:hugs:

it sucks having to worry about what we want isnt it. I would love to have a home birth but wouldnt be allowed one full stop :( My DH cant come with me and if my chosen person isnt available at the time ill have to go alone xx

:hugs: hi ab, sorry your worrying about this I really hope you get the birth you wish for.

I'm struggling too, we have moved to a place where we don't know a single person I'm three hours away at least from anyone I know! I've no idea what I'm going to do when I go into labour it's such a nightmare. Xx

Just so you know, no-one can actually stop you from having a home birth. I've been advised not to have one because of the opposite reason.. My babies are "too small" (despite all being perfectly healthy). My consultant actually said to me he has to advise against it to cover his own back, I can choose to birth wherever I want. So I fully intend to have this baby at home :)

Were there any issues caused by your daughters' weights? If not, I don't really see why you couldn't have this one at home. It's not your first baby, you know your body can push babies out! So trust your instincts and choose whatever is best for you.

Thanks ladies.
I wouldn't mind if I had to go it alone as I know I can do it and I had quick easy labours b4 but would obviously like dh to be there.
Mummy, we're almost 3 hours away too, which I am happy about as it means no visitors straight away lol, but would obviously be easier if m.i.l could take the girls.
Tara, I hope your chosen person is available.
Hoping, my dd1 was 6lb 13.5oz at 34 weeks, dd2 9lb 6oz at 38 weeks. Doc said he won't let me go past 40 weeks as he thinks baby will be 11lb and shoulders could get stuck. I personally do not think that that will happen. Hoping it just happens quickly at home. Dd1 has been watching OBEM, says she'll help me lol xx

your very brave hun... im actually terrified of having to do it alone. but then again iv never had a sucessful "normal" vaginal delivery. ds1 was pretty traumatic and went wrong in the end.. and ds2 was a section. Id just go for another section but i dont want to be away from the boys for 2 days.

those are really good weights hun. have you looked at all the ways to help your labour come on and for an easier birth? I've already started a list  xx

I've had really easy births both times, no pain relief, quick births so just hoping that this one is the same. I did take rlt capsules b4 I had Zara but don't actually know if they did anything or not xx

ooo i never thought of RLT tablets.. ;) another for my list lol xx

I hope you get to have your home birth hun. Even if they say no.. if you dont go in in time theres not a lot they can do ;) xx

Personally I wouldn't want a young child in the delivery suite with me. I'd worry they'd be a bit traumatised. Hubby was 29 when I had Eleanor and I think he was a bit traumatised by the baby's head crowning (!). Not as traumatised as I was, haha.

It should be your choice and I completely understand why you'd need to bring them with you if you have nobody to watch them, but I would try go get someone else who can come with you too in case there are complications that you wouldn't want them to witness. I had retained placenta with my daughter and there was blood and bits of placenta being torn out everywhere (and they still couldn't get it all out and had to send me to theatre).
