My boobs are SO engorged it feels like my milk coming in :( I went from an A to almost a C (I'm ~15 weeks). They're so hard and swollen they're legitimately shiny!! :( I keep getting a letdown feeling too... this sucks so badly. I legitimately feel like I want to pump!

It's almost making me panic because the baby isn't here yet and I'm feeling so miserable about it (this was the WORST part of nursing my daughter--I had wicked oversupply and have a feeling I will this time too) and I don't think I'll be able to handle the irritation of it with a toddler AND newborn :(. I almost gave up because of it with DD and that's with ONLY HER! Anyone else going through this? IT SUCKS

Can you pump? Cabbage leaves will bring some relief. While you're nursing if you leave them on longer than an hour it can reduce supply a bit.

DONT PUMP!! doing it can actually bring on pre-term labor. I was just discussing this with a friend who works with the WIC program. She said their office had to stop handing out the breast pumps early because some of the women were putting themselves into labor. Unless your still nursing your lo, don't pump.

I also had horrible over supply. It was the worst with my first because I had no idea how to really deal with it.
Because you're not actually producing milk right now, the typical things may not help, but you could try. I'm really sorry you're having so much discomfort! Hopefully it will slow down.

Time to get yourself a new very supportive bra - a sports bra type might be best. Mine engorged first time and they looked shiny and like I'd had a bad boob job - ie very round! It eased after a few weeks when mine settled down. This time my boobs just re inflated! :haha: I haven't tried it, but you can buy comfort hear pads for engorgement. They're like little Handwarmers that you pop into your bra - can be heated or chilled which might relieve the discomfort. As they're not expressing any milk I think it would probably be fine for use in pregnancy.

I didn't have an oversupply, but when I was pregnant with my dd my boobs were sore. I exclusively pumped with her for 5 months. Now that I'm pregnant with #2, earlier on, in the first tri and most of the 2nd - my boobs felt like they were on FIRE! They hurt SO SO much and I could barely lift my arm up without having tremendous pain. It was so hard to sleep and I have big boobs (34G) and even just moving quickly would hurt. They finally stopped being so painful around 22 weeks or so, although still a tad sore. But I know how you feel. Don't pump - that won't do anything for the pain anyway and I've heard it can cause preterm labor like others have mentioned. I would just suggest warm compress, tylonel if it becomes unbearable, and yes a good fitting bra really helps. Something that really holds them in place! Good luck, it probably won't be this bad for your entire pregnancy!

Yes, I agree with pp who said to use a heat pad on the areas that feel hot or red. I never knew that you could get engorged while still pregnant-does not sound like fun! I had it early into breast feeding and I remember how awful it felt.

Pumping will make you have contractions! If you can hand express save the milk if you plan to breastfeed. I've noticed mine have gotten bigger but not over engorged.

I actually came on here to post about this! I'm up to a 38ff already and biggest I got with the other two while nursing was 36g. Mine seem to itch constantly, I'm slapping wonderbalm on at every opportunity. Nipples are be worst, they catch on everything, are sore and itchy at the same time and my 3 year old keeps elbowing me in the boob when sitting next to me, I have uttered many swear words under my breath recently and cried a few times too! Taking bra off at the end of the day is the worst feeling ever when they drop!!!

I'm so relieved I'm not alone. I haven't even been able to eek out more than a drop. Definitely not going to pump because I don't want to start contractions! I didn't think of using hit compresses.. Are there some I can like, microwave and pop in my bra??

I'd kill to be in your situation! Although my breast grow quite large, my milk supply is crappy, leaving me no choice but to ff. I really hope that this time I can bf. :(

I had horrific oversupply as well. With my DD I had no idea what was happening. I followed the advice of the lactation consultants and still ended up backed up.

Second time around. I bought a pump immediately and started pumping that first week. By the time I started weening I was pumping 17-18oz from both breasts during a sitting.

My milk comes in immediately too. They were born and with in hours so too was my milk supply.

I already feel your pain. I'm only 14 weeks and my breast are already leaking, itchy, and sore. But not engorged yet, so I know it's only the beginning. Going to purchase some of those portable heating pads that stick to your body! Lol. Hopefully it helps. And lanolin. I need to pick that up already too for my nipples.

Good luck! I hope it gets better for you.
