A few days ago i went out with my mates for a meal;
i had such a lovely time but on our way back we had to get off the bus abit sooner than expected because the road had been blocked off by police.
i thought it was because there had been a fight because the same thing happend a few weeks back.
but when we got off there was an abulence; and infront was a child on the floor his mother was screaming and they were giving him CPR i learnt he'd been knocked off his bike by a speeding car.
i havent been able to stop thinking about it and was told the next day he passed away.
Even though i didnt know him its still really effected me its been all over the news and the amount of flowers people have left for him just shows the pain and heartbreak everyone must be feeling let alone his parents.
it just makes me wonder why innocent lives are taken
and its deffinately made me think about the safety of my baby and how much i dont really agree with letting her out by busy roads alone so young;
has anyone thought about how theyre going to be when it comes to letting their kids play out ect?

First of all :hugs:
I am so so sorry that you had to experience that.

A couple of years ago, i kind of saw a 3 year old girl get hit by some stupid teenager on a scooter. I say kind of because it all happened so fast, i can never remember if i actually saw it happen or i just saw the before + after. It literally feels like it was so quick, i blinked and it had happened. There was a bunch of teens on their scooters, outside the swimming baths and they werent supposed to be there anyway :nope:

I havent thought much about what my 'rules' will be for LO when it comes to playing outside. Definitely no playing near busy roads. I dont want to wrap my LO in cotton wool, but i guess we'll just want to protect them as much as possible.

it just hit me really hard because no one expects to see anything like that
life is so cruel
specially to take such young lives away

I know what you mean
its just you see all this stuff about kidnappers and kids being ran over on the news all the time too
its a scary world out there! xx

I also hate thinking about what i'd do if i found a little kid that was lost. I always think about finding a crying kid in a supermarket who's lost their mum. And like trying to take them to the information desk so they can call their mum to come collect them. But what if their mum comes round the corner and see's you walking towards the exit with their crying child :nope: I honestly have non idea what i'd do in that situation xx

Aw bless nobody should have to experience things like that, but unfortunately it happens daily :nope:
My heart goes out to his family, even now I couldn't imagine losing my baby boy but they say God only takes the best :angel:

Oh hunni, I'm so sorry you had to see that :hugs:. How awful, he's in my prayers xxx

So sorry you had to see, my heart goes out to the family. Its soo sad that it happens!

Im completely for wrapping up my babies in cotton wool! DD is 3 and shes not allowed anywere without me keeping a close eye on her! we have a park 1 minute away from home and shes not even allowed there on her own! When kids come to knock for her to play out she has to wait until im ready too. The other parents on the estate think im crazy because the handfull of cars that do come into our estate drive sooo slowly and all the kids look out for each other and nobody who doesnt live here comes in the estate because its so off the track! But i go by the rule of it only takes 1 person to drive too fast or 1 stranger a second to pick up your child and i would never be able to forgive myself if anything were to happen that i could avoid.
My neighbour has been letting her little girl play out on her own from 2, iv seen her walking in the middle of the road, falling off the curb into the road (how is a car supposed to see a child on the floor if its driving fast!) iv seen her eating poisonous berries of trees etc, i cant even count the number of times iv been so worried about her that iv gone out and took her home or asked her if she would like to come and play with my DD indoors, just so i know shes not in the road!! (obviously after okaying it with her mum)
My DD will be playing out only if im out too and she is in my sight until i think she is old enough to be out alone (probably about 18 lmao!) but i think as long as you give your child the freedom to bring friends indoors to play or let them have free range in the garden etc then it shouldnt be a problem. xxx
