I take quite a lot (800 milligrams 2x a day) of ibuprofen for joint pain and I have read that it can prohibit the fertilized egg from attaching in the uterus..sounds crazy but I swear I've read it somewhere! Has anyone else heard this??

I feel like I have seen it somewhere too. Curious to see if anyone knows for sure.

Good luck! And thanks for asking a question I keep meaning to ask.

Ibuprofen
Common pain relievers such as the NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which include Advil, Motrin, and Aleve) can sabotage conception, particularly if taken regularly. They may block production of prostaglandins, hormone-like chemicals that regulate inflammation and temperature. But they may also throw off the release of an egg each month. If you’re trying to get pregnant, stop taking ibuprofen from right before ovulation. “But it’s perfectly alright to take it for menstrual cramps,” says Dr. Carson. Or try acetaminophen (Tylenol) instead.

All I know is that you are not supposed to take ibuprofen when you are pregnant. You might want to consult your doctor about using it while ttc.

Ugh I have! They seem so non chalant about it, like oh I wouldn't worry about it, keep taking it if it makes you more comfortable....maybe I'll ask again!! Thanks ladies

Dont you just love it when your doctor makes everything you are worried about seem like its no big and act kinda like why in the heck are you bothering to ask me about something so stupid???
It is kind of weird to think though that it is suggested to take one low dose aspirin per day, it is supposed to help lower the risk of MC... but that is an NSAID pain reliever just like Advil/Ibueprofen.... I guess maybe the amount is what makes the difference.... have you tried taking tylenol just incase?

I'm switching to Tylenol asap, we'll see how that goes however, because I need the anti inflammatory in ibuprofen for my joints...I'm only 27 and I sound like an old lady! Lol
But my dr absolutely dismissed it last time saying it was fine, maybe if I ask again and tell her I'm actively TTC...

I was researching this myself and found one article that claimed a lot of unexplained infertility stems from women taking NSAID meds while ttc.

I'm sticking to baby aspirin and half-doses of Tylenol.
