hi all.
right my dh and i went to the gp last week. we have been trying to concieve for 2 years. i got preggers last may but mc in june. anyway the doc thinks my dh has either retrograde ejaculation (where semen travels back into the bladder) or an injury to his vas deferon( the tube that carries sperm from balls to eurithra) he thinks this as my dh was born with an inguinal hernia in his balls (sorry if tmi) which he had repaired when he was 18 months old or 36 years ago. the doc has told us that icsi would prob be the best option, the only problem being i have a child from a previous relationship so we will have to go private. any idea on how much it will cost in total? i know the tesa( surgical retrival of his sperm) will cost about £1500 but am not sure about the rest. i did look on a site but it just baffled me. we live in wales. thanks all.xx

Hey hun

a private cycle of ICSI varies from clinic to clinic but we were quoted £4500 for a private cycle with freezing option for embies.

Good luck x

Hi

There is no set price for private treatment, they can basically charge what they like, unfortunately. If you search for a clinic near you on the hfea website you should find details of their prices.
https://www.hfea.gov.uk/fertility.html

You can reduce the cost by donating eggs, but it depends on how many you get and how you feel about this.

Good luck

xx

Hi Dawn, were paying just over £3500 for ICSI. It does all depend on your clinc (were in West Yorkshire)
xx

Well, I'm in the US, so I don't know how much the prices vary. We got a quote on our entire IVF cycle as being $12,000-$15,000. But when we got the information from the lab about the ICSI, and cryropreservation, and such, we found out it was going to be extra for the ICSI. $1200 for ICSI on less than 10 eggs and $1700 for ICSI on more than 10 eggs. I think the freezing was like $750. But that didn't matter for us as I just found out we have nothing left to freeze. :nope:

Anyhow, you may want to ask if the ICSI is in addition to the cost of IVF. We weren't told and were blindsided by that.

:dust:

Hi
I am with manchester fertilty services (MFS) . IVF with ICSI is £3550, drugs are between £500 - £1000 and tesa is £1745. Good Luck x

Can i ask what Tesa is?? x

Hi TESA is testicular sperm aspiration, basically my dh cant ejaculate at all so its a form of surgery where they remove fluid and tissue straight from the testies, they then use the sperm for icsi.x

thanks everyone. ye i did have an idea on how much the icsi was with tesa, but there are so many extras like bloods, scans, freezing etc it gets a bit mind boggling.xx

just another quick question, we are having all our fertilty tests done on the nhs, can we then take those results to a private clinic or will we have to pay to have them done again, and roughly how much do all the consultation fees etc come to.xx

Hi i would try and gets as much as you can done on the nhs this is what we did. They will do all the bloods and scan for you both apart from the amh for you. We are not eligible for ivf on the nhs because we already have a child together. But in your case if i was you i would appeal especially given your hubby condition you shouldnt have to pay for this as well as ivf. Only yesterday someone was on the tv who had a child and got funded for ivf with genetic testing. Good Luck and stay around you will get loads of support on here x Where in wales are you by the way i'm from Wrexham x

oh brill another welsh girl. i'm from south ceredigion, ye we wanted to try on nhs but i have 2 children from a previous relationship so my gp said we might keep getting pushed down the list by couples who dont have any between them so we thought about going private but because of my dh problem the cost just seems to be massive, and then there is the fact that it may not work the first time. we miraculousley fell preggers early last year but sadly lost the baby and have had no luck since, my dh is 10 years older than me and is pushing 40 so i think he wants to get things rolling. i have been on ivf wales but the list of fees is soooo confusing, there are so many fees and tests, i did i rough calculation and got an estimate of £8000 which is a massive sum. especially if it fails, it will take us ages to save up again for another corse.xx

Can you go on the nhs list as well as saving up to go private? Another option for you might be eggs share ?

yes thats what we're doing at the mo, i thought about egg sharing but cant find much info about it on the ivf clinic sites.x
