Identical vs. Fraternal Twins

Hi there,

I'm expecting twin boys which I am told are fraternal. They have their own amniotic and chorionic sac's aswell as their own placenta's. The membrane between them is thick and so this is why there is apparently "no chance" that they are identical. The thought keeps crossing my mind tho as they are both boys lol I wont be convinced until they are born lol

Congratulations on your twin pregnancy :)

I was the same way..Then, they came out looking so different, we knew! Wow...one looks like Dad, one looks like my side of the fam..So, one of each!

definetly faternal, if you saw to sacs, frats. have their own sac, placenta. and was fertilized by its own sperm(two eggs two sperm) identical twins are in the same sac ALWAYS some share the placenta but that is rare and also idential twins start off as one but split into two, VERY early on... iui usually causes frats

I know identical twins that had separate sacs and plencenters! They go to playschool with my youngest! You can't tell them apart!

If only 1 egg is released then you have identicals in there.

hi girls, I found out I was having twins on tuesday, big big shock but very happy, I too would like to know if they are identical or not, as far as I know they each have their own sac, with a thin membrane between them
