Actually there was a news i read- An australian wife was cleaning her house and found an old suitcase and she sold it to charity shop. When the hubby realised it in few days, he was shocked as he had saved all his retirement savings in that suitcase- nearly 100000 australian dollars!!! They then went to the charity shop, who gave them the address of the couple who bought it. They traced them down and asked for it. the couple then mentioned that they had opened variuos bank accounts and put money in different ones, which the police say that they have traced most of it but tsill some remain lost!!!
I thought i will share this story when u asked about a suitcase with money!!!

I know this is the not the answer to the question but reminded me of a case I had a few years ago.

I am a Social Worker and we went out to assess an old man who was living on his own. He told me he kept his money in the cupboard and wanted me to help him so when I started counting it, there was over £50,000 in £10's and £20's. It was hidden everywhere in the flat - airing cupboard, under floorboards, everywhere we looked. It was amazing. Obv didn't keep it but still amazed me that people kept cash around like that. We even had to arrange for the men with the security van and masks etc to transfer the cash to the Council's bank acct until the man could open his own acct!

Hmmm would I hand it in....would I keep it.

I would like to think I would hand it in.....imagine if it was like money from a bank robbery and then you got caught using the money you could get in massive trouble.....but then again I think temptation would be there to take some of it.

If it was hundreds of thousands I'd hand it in for sure!

OMG this is a really tricky one esp after hearing the story about the old man..... I dunno what I'd do... if I kept it I think it would really play on my mind!! So I guess I would have to hand it in eventually!

id hand it in coz id be worried it was "dodgy" in some way & wouldnt want criminals coming after me looking for it xx

keep it and wait for a report of someone missing money... If you hand it in and no one claims it, it just goes to the govt.... If noone reported missing money id keep it as a backup for when things go wrong and i NEED money like car broke down and we where skint not just waste it...

So id both both in a way lol give it back if reported missing but keep if not lol

I would keep it unless all the bills were in sequential order and likely laundered or stolen. If they looked like a case of normal money, finders keepers. LMAO
