I see it as diff to the old man with all the money - that was in his house and if I found a suitcase of money someone was obviously silly to leave it for someone to find

Honestly no. I am not a believer in finders keepers. A prime example of this is my DH found a wallet this week on his way to work. It had 85 dollars in it. Could we have used that right now? Yup. Even a few bucks of it would have helped. But both DH and I have been on the other end. Having lost our wallets at certian times in our lives that had bill money or rent money in it. Never to be seen agian. So we always turn it in. Which is precisely what he did.

How do you know that the suitcase was not lost by someone who worked for a charity and was heading to the bank to make a deposit, or what if it was a person with a small business or so on. We do not know the curcumstances. And even if you only take a little how do you know someone won't lose their job for that loss? Affecting their entire families? And if you say "well they should have taken better care then" have you never lost anything because you had so much going on whether good or bad in your life that you made a slip up?

The answer to me no matter the circumstance is no I would not keep the money. I would turn it striaght in to the cops.

A suitcase full of money... TBH I would probably give it to the police or something in case it was some criminal's ... cause they may come after it?? lol.

But then part of me would keep it too. Guess it'd depend where I found it.

i think there is a difference to though.. I mean a wallet is alot easyer to find an owner to, with things such as Driver L in it or a bank card with a name if you took it to the bank they would be able to find the owner by the account number alone.

Where as a suitcase of money well is a big thing to just "lose" and does not normally have anything in it to be able to return to owner

I work in a wealthy area (Virginia Water, Surrey) and one day I had to pop to the local Budgens to get bread. I found a real Louis Vuitton purse on the floor with a wad of £20 notes in and then saw a lady wearing a long fur coat and Louis Vuitton handbag looking at the veg in the same aisle and I knew the purse must be hers so I asked her if she had mislaid her purse and she checked her bag and was like "oh my goodness this is the third time I've dropped it!" so I gave it back lol.

Afterwards I thought wow I wish I could afford to lose my purse full of money 3 times, shoulda kept it! But I couldn't have, I'd feel too guilty

I would most prob hand it it.....well I would probs take a few hundred 1st I would just be worried all the time incase someone comes after me or something!
