that the surgeon closes up all seven layers. You only have to stitch three--the uterus, fascia, and skin, but my doctor says that it's better if they close all seven layers, even though it takes longer. I'm in the US. I don't know what they do in the UK, but a lot of younger doctors here only close up three layers. Going to post this in the C-section area as well.

My doctor refused to stitch more than 3 layers (in Canada) because actually letting some of theses layers heal on their own can heal better with less scaring and better. There is a lot of mixed studies on this, but it is something to discuss with your doctor.
