What are you taking to hospital for it?

Im guessing they have a sterilizer there? How many bottles are you taking? andd are you gonna take those lil cartons of milk? Or just take a tub?

Sorry for all the questions I just cant seem to get any answers, my hospital only gives info on breastfeeding equiptment and im confused :dohh:

xx

I'm also confused too! I know we definatley have to take the milk cartons, but i'm confused how many bottles we take? lol

you should probs call you local hospital and ask because i didnt have to bring anything they supplied formula in little ready to feed bottles :)

good luck,

I think every hospital is different, I would call your MW/hospital and ask them :)

Boots and I noticed some Tescos do too now do ready made glass bottles like they used to supply at hospitals, thats what I took, much easier!

when i had my LO i took pre-made bottles in like the ones in link below.

they should have cld water steralisers there for you to put your bottles into once you are on the ward, but you can steralise them at home and put them in a seal tight bag.......i advise you to take cartons as its 100 tiems easier when you have just had your LO and really don;t feel like doing anything.

in my hopital they have formula made for you. they have aptamil c&g and sma (:

My hospital gives you formula which I'm so greatfull for, I'm already going to look like I'm moving in for a week without caring round bottles and stuff.

Deffinatly ring your local hospital, policies have really changed recently and every hospital seems to be different..

My hospital don't give you formula from september last year, so they advise to bring some in case of any complications.. mine does provide a steraliser, and i'm taking two bottles, as i'm working on the basis that my mum could pop home and get some more if i need them.. and i'm taking the ready made cartons (as the pre-made bottles were really expensive and the cartons worked out much cheaper)...

oh and as an aside - i would double check they have a steralizer - my cousins hospital didn't provide ANYTHING to encourage bottle feeding - and they didn't even have a steralizer.. so i'd just double check, although it would seem most hospitals do have them!

Some hospitals are ridiculous, how is providing a steriliser encouraging bottle feeding:dohh: I feel so sorry for people who try to breastfeed but can't if they went to a hospital like that they must feel so much worse:growlmad:

Some hospital provide it, they did when i worked on the materniy ward any ways. You could always go with othing and say you did realise they did provide it, they will then give you some bottles to give lo... u might have to listen to the encouraging you to breastfeed first tho!!

definitely call your hospital. because it varies.
mine had formula in pre-made bottles, so it made it really easy! (i had to supplement while my milk came in!)

its different at each hospital but mine provide bottles and said to bring your own formula but nott the tub only the ready made cartons so im just taking two of those x

im formula feeding but not gonna take any bottles/formula to hospital and if they dont have any then i'll just give him colostrum because i cant be fussing with bottles/milk to take with me so will see if they have it there and if not will just give colostrum until i get home x

Tbh even though I was told they didn't have it, a girl next to me was desperate and they provided her with formula, you just never know.

my hospital dont supply formula you have to take your own, along with nappies and cotton wool. But every hospital is different, you should probably ask your MW :]

yeah some hospitals say they don't have it, however, they do have a small stash for Just in case mum's - for example those who expect to breastfeed and don't plan to bottle feed.. my hospital say that if you plan to breastfeed, and try it and it doesn't work out, they might be able to provide formula..

but my cousins hospital (a right old stuffy one they were) just refused point blank - the bub starved till her dad could get there, with the ready-made-bottles, and i'd hate for anyone to be in the position... apparently she was so scared - i can't see many hospitals would let that happen where the baby is just left without food..
