Cooper has a chest infection. It started with a cold, we went to the dr on monday and he prescribed Calpol and wanted a follow up appt this morning. We went this morning and he now has anti biotics as it has spread to his chest.

All you ever hear is breast fed babies don't get sick, why is my baby pooly :hissy:

I know its one of those things at the end of the day, I guess I'm just worried that this is going to be a blow that puts a nail in my bf coffin. I have been struggling with pain from the start but telling myself its the best thing for Cooper and to carry on. I know its still the best thing for him but after 6 weeks of more or less continuous pain, I have been tempted to throw in the towel.

I'm giving myself until he is 3 months old I've decided, if it still hurts, I quit.

Sorry pointless thread, I'm just annoyed that my little pumpkin is poorly

 Sorry to here your little man is poorly Hope he gets better soon.

I'm not sure it's entirely the case that they don't get sick at all, just that they're getting a better boost to their immune system. Maybe one of the other girls more in the know will be able to come and explain that better.

The pain should stop, i felt the same at one point, dreading putting my daughter to my boob as it was painful, toe curling, eyes watering painful at points, and the more i tensed the worse it got. Then it just dissapeared. Just like that it went. That was about 6 weeks in. I got a bit of a twinge again about 7-8 weeks but no where near as bad and i've never had it since. I did exactly the same and gave myself 3 months, 3 months passed and i carried on as it was just second nature by then. I know it seems easy said and you hear it everywhere but honestly just perservere *sp* with it. There is a light at the end of the tunnel for most women and it does get better.

Oh no, hope he gets better soon

Have you been expressing ?

I found bf so painful and stressful until I started expressing and now Lucas has 2 bottles of ebm a day. If I hadn't started expressing i think id of started introducing formula by now.

Expressing has been an absolute god send, at the moment he has one bottle a day which OH gives him after his bath in the evening. Also means I don't have to stress about public breast feeding as I'm not that confident yet. I need to be pain free before I do that, no one needs to see me gurning thru the pain!!

Darling, I cant really offer any advice BUT I'm 100% supportive and behind you..... try not to give up.... I know its horrible seeing your little angel ill ..

Try to stay positive (I know you are), Im here as your little bfing supporter / cheerleader!!!!!

xxxx :hugs:

My bfed baby is far more ill than my ff babies were. I don't think it stops them being ill hun. Coughs and colds are unavoidable, horrible but unavoidable.

I hope your little fella is better soon hun xxx

Blip over.
Amazing what a bath and a glass of rose can achieve. Thanks girls
