Hi ladies - even though I am moving on to my 19th cycle, I have only posted in LTTC twice  I think it was denial, but finally got fed up with people falling pregnant within 3 months of knowing them - you know how it is!

I would love some likeminded LTTCers to see the next stage of the journey through with. I am 35 (just), can feel biological clock ticking louder every dsy. been TTc since June 2010 (NTNp in May 2010). have one chemical in June after my HSG. DH - normal. My blood tests and HSG normal.

Having a weird time with NHS, got discharged as they couldnt even give me Clomid until TTC for 2 years and then no IUI or IVF as I am over 35. GP referred me to private clinic, but the consultant has asked to see us at his NHS clinic. The appointment is next Tuesday and I cant wait. We are saving for IVF and IUIs. We have had to FS clinic appointments before, but they were useless - just talked about lifestyle and said cant do anything as am too old.

I have been pretty positive most of the time, but going into 19months I feel like I am hitting a wall. Am slowly seeing less of my RL friends as they are all pregnant or mums already.

Anyone else out there is a similar situation?

Hi MrsMax,

I'm kinda in a similar situation, TTC for over 20 cycles now and recently been referred to FS which was very fast as I'm having a lap done at the end of December, we haven't had a hint of BFP and all tests so far have come back okay. My GP suggested I started a savings fund for IVF.

Its hard to see friends with little ones sometimes but I'm sure we will both get there. We just need to keep positive.

Hey,

We have been at this for over three years.

Yes we are still young but not going to be forever. Had a BFP two month after we started trying but that was down to ovarian cysts. Fun.

I hope you get your BFP soon. Good luck. X

Thank you Princess - I know for many 18 months isnt long, but it is beginning to feel it. You are amazing for getting to 3years TTC - I imagine that has been quite a journey :hugs:

BettyBoops - sorry to hear you in a similar situation. My GP is supportive but is really positive - however we have started to save for IVF anyways. Do you not get it on teh NHS either? I am realy getting fed up of this journey!! Fxd we get our BFPs very very soon!!

Hey ladies,

I am younger (22) but have been ttc since Mar/2010. I have never gotten even a hint of a bfp yet - and after a year went to my Fam Dr. She told me usually they wait to refer people to an obgyn for fertility issues until they have been ttc for 2 yrs, although since I am young and healthy she was concerned. I suffered from very irregular periods and was sent for some tests along with suffering through the 5 mins of horrible cramping I got when having an HSG done. The news came back that I have clean tubes, but wasn't ov'ing. On top of that DF has a low sperm count. Right now I am on Metformin (which is working great so far - my last cycle was 32 days, down from 83, and I am pretty sure I ov'd). If I don't get a bfp this cycle I am going to be joining the clomid club.

I am 34 and have been ttc for 18 cycles. I was also ltttc when I was 23.
We're unexplained. I have been to the RE and I did a cycle of femara and IUI a few months ago.

I just have to say that I am from the states and I find it ridiculous that you can't get treatments when you are over 35!! That's unbelievable. Over here, insurance coverage for infertility treatments is hit or miss at best, but there is no discrimination. Regardless of age, if you have coverage, they will still do treatments.

How frustrating! :hugs:

 welcome to LTTTC.. we have been trying nearly 16 months now, how annoying about the NHS..

Hi Damita, Ready and Cara. Sounds like we are all in similar boats.

Ready - what is next on the cards for you? How did you fall preggo last time? Grr, it's just so frustrating.

Cara - I am glad the metformin seems to be working for you. I so it brings you your BFP.

Hey there! I'm 36 and have been ttc for nearly 18 months as well. I found out in August that I have pcos and have been working hard to lose weight and get my body functioning properly again. I'm definitely making progress as this month is the first month of ovulation in ... well... tbh I'm not sure how long, at least 1.5 years though!!

That really sucks for the IUI/IVF age limit there. I hope the private doc that you are seeing soon gives you some options!

Yeah, that age limit really isn't fair. They shouldn't discriminate against older.ladies.

The age thing in the UK is insane. A lady in my area took our PCT to court over it as it age discrimination, they are re considering their policy now.

At one point you had to be 35 where I live to get treatment, so basically they made people wait until they were less fertile and had less chance before they could have a go at IVF. Imagine being 25 and told you had to wait until 35!

The new policy you need to be under 35 when you reach the top of the 3 year waiting list, I have no chance being 33. Its very very unfair, I can not belive its allowed to go on in the UK in 2011!!

I'm not sure what's next. With unexplained, there's not really much to fix. So we just keep on doing what we've been doing. I might try IUI again. But it's really complicated.

My first was 4 cycles of clomid/IUI, my next 2 were unassisted. Now, I've done femara/IUI.

It is frustrating. :hugs:

It's the discrimation that gets to me.

Maybe I just find it appalling because I'm American?

I read some guidelines from another country about being eligible for treatments. You had to be a certain age, not have any kids, etc. Pretty sure that if that went on over here, the insurance company would get sued.....and the patient would win.

I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure that it is illegal to discriminate like that in the states.
But then again, over here, we don't have nationalized insurance. Most people have zero coverage and have to pay out of pocket.

In a dream world, we would all be just as fertile as we want to be, lol.

Yeah my hubby and I have 1/2 jokingly talking about moving back to the Netherlands for ttc since the insurance would pretty much pay for it all, but then after seeing so many Euro ladies run into the no treatment after 35 bit, I wasn't so sure. lol My hubby looked it up and apparently the Netherlands allows it until age 40.

It really sucks for those ladies running into those issues. I know it's because it's government funded, but still. That's just so heartbreaking for the ladies my age that get shafted by it all.

Glad its not just me that thinks it is unfair. Looking.g forward to appointment with the consultant On Tuesday. Now over the heartbeat of yet another ad am feeling pretty relaxed. Probably won't last into the tww. What cd are you On?

I'm actually 15dpo today (cd25). I got a bfn at 13dpo, so I'm waiting to test again until Monday (17dpo).

Good luck Dodger - how long are your cycles usually?

CD 17 today... and no too sure what is going on with my cycle. I thought I ov'd a few days ago, but there was no ewcm, then my temp dropped by like .5... then started going up again - So I am currently at a loss as to what is going on.. Just hoping for the best and taking it day by day.
