I'm new

Hi everyone, I am new here. My hubby and I went for our routine 12 week dating scan on 12 March where we found out that our baby had no heartbeat and has stopped growing at 9weeks +. We were devastated as I had had no pain or bleeding and still had all pregnancy symptoms, in fact I had been diagnosed with Hyperemesis since week 6 of pregnancy. I was told that the placenta and sac had continued to grow therefore my body was still thought it was pregnant.

Whilst I was being scanned the sonographer asked hubby and I if we wanted her to point things out to us on the screen which I assume she meant our babies body parts, I was so upset and shocked I freaked out I said no. So she said that she would print a photo for us and put it in our file for when/if we felt ready. All weekend it played on my mind and I kept thinking about the one thing we had left of our baby being stuck in a hospital file. I had chosen to go into hospital on the Monday for a D&C so when we went to the hospital on the Monday to discuss things with a Doctor I seen a corner of the scan photo sticking out of the file and I new then I was taking it home with me. When I looked at the photo I was rather shocked as it didn't look like a baby at all, it just looked like a blob, I couldn't make out a head, body, arms, legs or anything, its just a white blob in the middle of my womb. Does anyone know why this would be? Surely by 9 weeks + it should have at least have been in the shape of a baby?????? And the Sonographer did offer to point things out to us so she must have been able to see something, I am just so confused.

Hi, my name is Rachael.. I am so sorry for your loss and that you and your hubby are suffering like this. It is a terrible thing to go through and am sorry anyone has to feel pain like this.
I have my sonogram from my 9wk+5 scan and I just pulled it out and looked. Our daughter looked like a gummy bear in the photo. She didn't look like a fully figured baby. I will take a picture for you if you would like and post it. Not sure if this would help. Let me know I cant PM you cause your new but I would like to help any way I can.

Just read ur post so sorry for ur loss, I found out babys heartbeat had stopped at my 2nd scan and i was 8wks , i kept a pic of scan and can make out a lil buba etc but the some scan pics arent that clear, did they only take one pic, maybe u coulld pop up to the ward when ur feelin ready and better in urself and ask if they could point out wats wat on ur babys scan pic

Thank you ladies, I would scan the photo into computer and show you but we don't have a scanner at home and I'm not back to work yet. I am just starting to wonder if it had even formed properly, if it hadn't would they have told me??

My MC was very similar to yours & I also had strong symptoms (although not as bad as you!) & no bleeding.
It's such a terrible thing to go through, my heart goes out to you sweetie.

It didnt come out a clear as I would of hoped. my scanner is broke so i had to use the camera. As you can see she looks like a gummy bear. This was taken at 9wks+4days gestation.

Thank you for posting your precious picture hun, ours looks nothing like that, I can't make out a single thing on it. I wish I could post it so that you could see what I mean xx

Sometimes there are no answers and believe me that is terrible. So sorry sweetie
I know the first time I ever seen a sonogram it was very confusing to me as to what everything was. Maybe you could go back and speak with someone who could help you point things out.

Sorry to hear of your loss sweety.

I had a scan at 6w 4d of which I saw my LO with a strong heartbeat. A week or so later, they had died and I didnt find out until I started to bleed at exactly 12 weeks. Had a scan 2 days later and the sonographer did not let me see the image or give me a picture.

I still have my picture as I cant bear to throw it away. LO to me looked perfectly formed.

However, I did get a glimpse from a far when I was getting changed and it looked nothing like what I saw 6 weeks before.

So sorry for your loss. We went through the same thing almost at the same time as you except we were 15w+5d. I looked at the ultrasound, but they never offered a print out. I did however receive beautiful pics after my delivery even though she was already an angel.

Again sorry for your loss and let me just say the women on this site are wonderful. They have answered every question I have had and then some.
