I had to have an emergency csection she was three weeks early. For the first three days I only breastfed her. On the third night two nurses come into my room saying the baby is hungry she needs formula. They said I was having to feed too often and my baby is still hungry. She was crying an awful lot that night and I would feed her every 15 min or 30 min for 10 -20 min at a time. They made me feel so awful. So since then Ive been breastfeeding and afterwrds giving her a bottle of formula. She will still drink about 4oz after breastfeeding for an hour almost 2 hours. Am I having trouble making milk b/c I had a csection? 3 weeks early? I feel like such a bad mother that I cant BF my baby till she is full. I try pumping but to this day I can only get half an ounce out. I dont know if its just a crappy pump (probably not) I'd like to think so but I know its me. My milk doesnt squirt it still just drips very slowly. My baby is almost 3 weeks old now. Anyone else have any issues like this? Am I the only one?

Your supply is low due to the top ups unfortunately. It is completely normal behaviour for your baby to feed that often. Yet more horrible advice from medical professionals regarding breastfeeding.
If you want to up your supply just feed your baby as much as she wants, cluster feeding and growth spurts are going to be intense after the top ups but she's definitely young enough to go on to be fully BF.
I recommend you hop into bed with her and feed feed feed!

Alright I'm going to do just that. Wish me luck! Thank you for your advice. I really don't want to give up. I hated those nurses for making me feel so horrible. Thank you again.

I agree.. Formula will only make it worse... Its natural for a newborn to feed that much. I had Caylee at 37 weeks by C section also because I had High blood pressure and I was able to feed her right away and she was getting plenty

Your baby didnt need formula at 3 days. Many women dont have their milk in until day 4-5 and their babies are fine waiting and just need colostrum until then. Your baby was probably just crying because she wanted to satisfy her need to suck. My 4 week old still constantly wants to suck, not for food but because babies love to suck as its comforting. Your baby is latching and nursing which is great so you just need to slowly cut out the top ups and just stay home and nurse a ton and your milk will increase.

I also had a c-section and my milk supply is more than enough. She was 2 weeks early. My 2nd baby was also c-section. She was also exclusively bf and didnt wean until 24 months. I should add, pump after each nursing. Even if nothing comes out, slowly the stimulation should cause your milk to increase. You can also take supplements that help lactation
