I had a GTT on friday - hospital just rang to tell me i go this and have to go in tommorrow for scan and discuss.

Anyone else got it? Apparently not GD but similar.
what questions should I ask?
What effects will it have on baby?

totally confused!

It sounds like you're above the normal range for blood sugars, but not high enough to be in the range that is considered diabetic.

I had the GTT a week and a half ago, it came back fine for before the Lucozade (4.7) but very high 2 hours after (11.4), they prefer it below 7.7 apparently.

You've probably been told everything about it by now so this is for others who find this thread. This late on in pregnancy there's very little anyone can do (I'm nearly 39wks) so they just sent me home with an Accu-Chek kit to check my sugar levels 4 times a day and monitor them. I also got told to try and watch my sugar/saturates intake until the birth.

At this stage they're not worries about the baby growing too big as he's pretty much stopped growing. The baby is producing insulin to cope with the mum's sugar levels while he's inside, if the sugar levels are too high when the baby comes out his sugar levels are much lower but he continues to produce the same amount of insulin so his blood pressure plummets. They fix it with a drop but there's obviously a risk and no one wants their baby in intensive care even if it's only over night!

I got the kit on thursday and have to call tomorrow and let them know how it's going,m I've had a few high results but my morning ones are fine... I'll just have to see what they say as I wanted a water birth!!!

Hi pole kitten - thanks for reply.
I'm surpised that your care is v. different from mine but i'm sure there will be different factors at play. basically i monitored sugars for a week with a home kit. when i went back, i had a growth scan and the consultant told me he will induce me at 38 weeks and no later. i am due to be induced next friday. Maybe they r treating me differently as my baby is measuring 40+4 weeks already - but he said the reason was more because of my blood sugars and not been happy with them. xxx
