I'm not sure where to begin to be honest because it was a very drawn out ordeal. But my waters went at 7am Thursday morning 12th April (39 weeks exactly) I started to have very painful contractions at about 1pm that last until about 3pm. Then they all of a sudden just stopped as soon as we arrived at the hospital.
So i was booked in fr induction the following day at 10am. So i got to the hospital and had the prostin pill put on my cervix, waited for 6 hours - nothing! They were going to put another pill in but decided to get me started on the pitocin/syntocinon at 6pm. After an hour the contractions started and they pretty much were horrendous from the first contraction. They checked me at 10pm and i was 3cm dilated. By this point i couldn't carry on with the gas and air because i was in too much pain to inhale, i couldn't breathe through my contractions at all. So the midwife suggested and epidural, and i said yes even though i was completely against having one. He took an HOUR to come and do it, i spent that hour screaming and asking how much longer until i could get it. When i did get it, it numbed only my left side and sent all the contractions to my right side, even MORE painful than before the epi!
By about 3am i was screaming about how i felt like a poo
The midwife came in to check me about half an hour later and i was fully dilated. So i was then pushing for an hour but no progress was being made. So the doctor came in and said he wants me to push for another half an hour before doing forceps delivery, so i screamed at him that i was not going to push for another half an hour, so he suggested only 20 minutes but i gave the same response so he backed down and we went to theatre where i had an episiotomy and forceps delivery. The stitches have left me in absolute agony and it still doesn't feel as thought they're getting better, i can hardly walk and i can't push myself off the bed which is awkward when LO wakes up wanting a feed.
But despite all of that, Jack Thomas Holtom was born pefectly healthy and absolutely gorgeous. He weighed 6lb 12oz and was born at 5:10am Sat 14/04/12 .
