We rotate Christmas day.

Last year we went to my mums so this year we are going to MILs and her husbands

FIL and his wife are awful hideous creatures so the less we see if them the better ;)
Compleetly agree lol And they see us all the time as we speak mother in law is on the sofa moaning lol God Im so lucky ha ha

Ever since we moved to this house (Hmm 5 years or so) we have had Christmas here and have had all the family come to us. Now last year I was pregnant and ended up on bed rest with contractions at 23 weeks, so had to ring around and cancel a few days beforehand. MIL was a complete bitch about it all and didn't even bother checking we were OK, even when I ended up in hospital and when we got home the whole family ended up with swine flu. Never mind that none of us even got to celebrate Christmas, she didn't get what she wanted so it was all about her.

At that point I made OH promise that they would never be spending Christmas with us again. He agreed! Yay! The fact that she has been a horrible moo for the rest of the year and is now not welcome in the house at all is just icing on the (Christmas? <grins>) cake.

So this year will be OH, our 4 small folks, whoever else fancies it besides his bloody Mother and me. It's going to be good

This year it's to be different for two reasons really:

1) Our first christmas with little one and as our OWN family
2) See my fella's family during the day instead of the night amongst others.

Our plan is that we go down and see his folks over lunch and come back early evening. So therefore her routine upto bedtime will not be distracted and cause it's our first christmas together as our own little family. Just would like to have christmas night at home with the fire going, christmas tree on and being together and make the most of it being our first. So we have been fair on both sides seeing his folks and us to be together too. If that makes sense?

xx

not spoke to mums side of family in 3 years and dads side live miles away so we have xmas with OHs family, although both his parents have died and theres just hist sisters.

Last year OHs sister and nephew came and stayed xmas eve till boxing day and his other sister and her fiancee came down xmas morning and left after lunch.

This year though SIL is spending xmas day with her inlaws so we are having the other sister and nephew down as usual xmas eve until boxing day and we will probably do a buffet on boxing day and have the other SIL and her fiancee down that day xx

last year we were at the inlaws for christmas and my parents for new year, this year we're starting our own tradition and having christmas over here and both of our families are invited if they want to come and I prefer my own cooking :haha:

We do one year my DH family and one year my family. Last year we were round my il so this year will be my family and I'm sooooo looking forward to it! It's not the same round my il and English Christmas dinner is not what I'm used to having, ok, it is good but it's not what I see as a proper Christmas dinner and what I grew up with.

We dont have a LO yet or people would come to us.

My parents are divorced too so we have to visit 3 people.
Each year is different. xmas eve/xmas morning is with my one set of my parents or the inlaws then about 12.00pm we drive the hour to another set of parents. so this year is

xmas eve/morning at in laws
dinner at dads- mum will come for dinner too.

mum and dad always open xmas presents together so one cooks breakfast and one cooks dinner so they can see my younger sisters open their presents.

We've always done alternate parents on Christmas but this year we're staying at home - Tegan is old enough for us to be starting our own traditions :)
