Me & OH aren't engaged, yet in numerous conversations we have discussed our wedding and decided when will be suitable and we both have it decided when, where, the theme etc We spent this morning finding the right version of 'our song' for walking down the aisle and have all our ideas. Yet he won't actually sit down and talk about it seriously enough to talk figures as it is 'too far away yet'. My dad can't attend my wedding unless it is in 2015 so that's that decided. OH said he wont propose until he is ready to start planning the wedding as he knows the second I get engaged I will plan the whole thing  which takes money, money he hasn't got right now. However I don't wanna put our lives on hold to get married by saving every single penny we get to go into it. Yet at the same time, I know what it is in my head and I WILL have my themed wedding of my dreams. it's so US, we need it this way! I am in total limbo with it being so far away but do you think i would be total bonkers to start a 'secret' saving account for my wedding even though I'm not engaged?

I'd love to be able to present an amount say at the end of next year and say I have this, you know to take the pressure off. As money is the only thing stopping us plannng yet we want to start in enough advance to pay as we go. Although this is too advance for OH.

I dont know what I want you to say really  do you think I'm bonkers? Should I start saving for a wedding?

I don't think you're bonkers at all! If you are able to save then do it! I'd love to be able to put some money away but just can't afford to at mo, so if you can do it then definately!!! Weddings are expensive even if you do it on a budget so i think it's a really good idea! Good luck xxxx

I think that's decided then, I'm gunna do a small amount now as I wanna save for out summer holidays too. Then after the holiday next summer I'm gunna save decent amount and have a little wedding account :)

I had a dream last night of the whole thing come together and it looked perfect with all my ideas in an actual 'all together' scenario, not just random ideas. It's made me much more eager to fulfil it. Since we saw the film, we said we would love to end up like that and we watch it every sunday and it's just perfect, our theme will definatley not be changing. :cloud9:

:happydance: what film is this hun??

Disney's UP! not that many people have seen it when I've told them but I'm not gunna over kill the theme, I have key pieces that link back to the film.

Also I don't think I will be having a typical top table, just me, OH & LO. I will be having both mum and dad take me up the aisle half way then I want Darren to come and meet me half way and 'help' me up just like Carl helping Ellie up the hill :cloud9:

Aw, it sounds amazing!

Brilliant idea to start saving now. You can never have enough money for a wedding!!! Once you start planning there are always so many extras you never knew you wanted until then!!!!

I'm sure he will be greatful I was so forward thinking when we have a few extra thousand in the pot :haha:

I just can't wait and want it to be perfect which is why I'm so eager but I'm sure I can be forgiven. We come from 'broken' homes so I want to make sure this is the One time I walk down the aisle so no compromises allowed

YES do it! thats what im doing, buying as i go then BAM one day i'll have almost everything and liam will just need to pay the venue!

and i looooove the theme idea, love the film and think it would be amazing, in fact i think i've seen an UP wedding in a wedding blog somewhere too... that was wicked from memory!

do it do it do it xxx (and start a secret journal while you're at it !) x

I don't think its silly at all if I'm honest.

Hubby and I did the same thing! We always commented on how we were planning our "Faux Wedding That We Don't Have To Plan But Are Anyways". I'm so not kidding on that either. :haha:

What made it easy is that as soon as we got officially engaged it was beyond simple to actually plan and book our wedding. We had most of the details sorted - all we had to do was book. We had a pretty short engagement (I felt I had waited long enough!) from start to finish I'd say it was about 9.5 months.

He may end up surprising you! I had no idea that P was planning on proposing, could have knocked me over with a feather!

I have files on the computer FULL of stuff I want. I have my guestlist and everything. That is my aim. I want to get all the 'dog work' out of the way now and the deciding so that when the time comes, it's stress free and enjoyable. I know the type of person I am wanting everything perfect and the type Darren is, we would start bickering and i don't want that, I and he would rather I know exactly what I want, he sorts out suits and helps with the food/music/venue (although we've already decided that together haha) then when the time comes to plan its just basically choosing where to get them from.

Oooooooooo operation lose a million stone
