In My Opinion This Is Insane!

In my opinion I think elective cesarians when they aren't medically necessary are rediculous.

I mean for gods sake man up to childbirth ladies!! Whats the point in having babies if you aren't going to give birth to them!? Its all part and parcel of being pregnant. There are women who would give their right arm to have a natural birth but can't!

I think its incredibly vain that women chose cesarians over natural births when there really is no need.

What would you have done x amount of years ago when there was no other option than to push the baby out?!

Really :growlmad: !!! These women need to get a grip and embrace childbirth for whatever it may bring.

Sorry for not having read the whole thread...and I do agree with what you've said here...but just to play devil's advocate...you could say the same for different options of pain relief...and bfing v ffing...none of these would have been an option either.

I don't know people's reasons for choosing a section, so gonna try not to judge..don't think i'd personally do it...but surely most people would have a 'reason' for doing so? Is there more risk with a c-section?!

Having said all that i'd possibly elect to have one in the future...but Jacob had shoulder dystocia and I had a few complications afterwards too..guess it would depend on future birthweight etc.

Of course you could but what I was saying was mainly for first timers and also women who had given birth (no complications) that just didn't like the pain. In that instance I just see it as selfish  And how on earth would they know a c-sec is any easier  ? Its a major oporation! Also they couldn't plan on having babies anytime soon after! Alot of complications in future pregnancies can occour after a c-sec especially if the placenta attaches over the section scar.
IDK, I just think the whole idea is silly! Women need to grow some balls, childbirth is a beautiful thing no atter how horrific it is  and I can certainly say that from experience :haha: x

I agree with Love Bunny

Also, i think if women want to have an elective c-section then thats their choice... but why ANYONE in their right mind would choose to have major surgery is beyond me! I've had nine (thats right, NINE) major operations in the past and i can tell you it's no walk in the park! The recovery time is awful, it's not just a scar thats healing, someone has literally been inside your body and fiddled with things... your body is traumatised afterwards! Womens bodies are built for natural childbirth, so in my opinion we should use the gifts that god gave us! Never underestimate the power of the human body :winkwink: xxx

I am TOTALLY for moms having a choice. If I am actually pregnant, you BET I will be fighting my butt off for a c section. There is NO way I am having something that big coming out of there. I will totally pay extra, deal with the extra pain/recovery whatever. There is nothing wrong with wanting a c section. Plus I'm fairly small, and don't want to change down there. Selfish? Vanity? SURE! Label me as that, it won't change my mind.

*shrugs* I'm not scared of giving birth naturally, but to me having a C section is an easier way, shorter, and a lot less stress. =) Then again I totally do not have very traditional motherly ways/thoughts... I know how I want my one kid whenever I'm given it, and its not the traditional route haha....

i'm opting for c-section for LO's sake.
my hips are very very narrow and it would be very difficult for me to have a natural birth, and it could very easily end up putting LO under a great deal of stress if i did.

My hips were too narrow up until a month before giving birth. I was told I would 100% need a c-sec if my hips didn't spread and if she was 8lbs or more. Well they guessed her weight wrong so I gave vaginal birth to my 8lbs 4oz baby girl with no problems at all. Grant it, I (re)broke my tail bone, but we knew that would happen.

in a way I feel like there shouldn't be elective c-sections, i was born by c-section but that was to save my life as the cord was wrapped around my neck. then again people undergo huge operations for cosmetic reasons so who am I to decide what people should do with their bodies and money. It shouldn't be NHS money used though, there are more important things than unnecasary surgeries
