In need of advice :(

J is 4 months old now... 21 weeks on monday and will be 5 months old on the 21st. he was exclusively breast fed for 3 months but had terrible colic and a sensitive tummie and screamed and cried all day every day so i made the decision of putting him onto formula milk. we started him on cow and gate 1 and for a week he was the happiest baby in the world. and then the problems started again. so we switched him to cow and gate comfort 1 which seemed fine. he has always been a whingey baby, but crys alot when he needs a poo but doesnt seem to have any problems getting it out if that makes sense?

anyway he always had 4oz feeds but for the last 2 weeks has had between 5 and 7oz. he has stopped sleeping through and now goes to sleep at about 11pm and wakes at 4am for a feed then again at 8 for play time but does not always have a feed then.

he has no routine as wont let me bath him he screams and gets to the point of hysterical so then it takes hours to calm down so i wash him daily with a soaking wet flannel.

anyway... i have now put his moses basket in his cot as he is outgrowing his moses and last time we tried him in his cot he didnt sleep at night for 3 nights so he ended up back in the moses basket. the only problem i have now is that i cant rock him to sleep in the middle of the night when hes had a feed and decides its play time.

he also hardly naps in the day he falls asleep many times but for only 10 mins at a time and then wakes. hes seen several drs who have all said they cant find any problems and hes healthy.hes been on everything for colic and also baby gaviscon none of which helped.

anyway for the last 2 days i tried him on rusks, he wouldnt take any on a spoon just pushed it all out with his tongue even with me being patient so i put them in his bottles (i didnt know at the time that this was bad)

any advice from your own personal views? has anyones little one been like this and did you resolve it?

im tempted to try cow and gate stage 2 or baby rice.

he is only small at 12lbs 8oz was 5lbs 9oz at birth born 3 weeks early.

he has gained about 1lb in 5 weeks and hv reckons that normal x

I dont know what to suggest... Jasmine has always been in her crib.

I dont bath her every night either.

Our bedtime routine includes sitting on the couch relaxing watching tv, I put cream on her, and we are there until her "last" feed at around 10, at which point I feed her in her room in the dark and put her to bed. She still gets up at around 3 too.

I have a whingey baby too and mine also naps for about 10 mins and is very alert the rest of the time so I am always on my toes -having a shower in the morning is a nightmare! He cries if i put him down anywhere. Im not sure about the feeding thing but all I can say is I decided to put him on a strict routine and see what happened and it worked the first night I did it. I had spent weeks sleeping on the sofa with him screaming all night - so I was in so much shock I camped on the stairs convinced hed wake at any moment but he didnt. I always bath him at 6pm- this too took ages but have you tried dipping his toes in the sink at first and then sitting him in it and then putting him in the bath with no water etc - you could also just have your bath with him? I always do the bath routine at 6pm and he now knows whats next and he feeds lots as he knows he has to sleep for ages. RE the moses basket thing - with mine I was just a bit mean after days of tempting him in it - everytime he fell asleep in the car etc Id put him in it so when he woke he was already in it.
