Increase in Clomid?

Hi ladies,

I just finished my first cycle of clomid and everything seemed to go pretty well. I ovulated on CD 20, estradiol of ~600, 7DPO progersterone of 24 however, I did not end up pregnant. Today is CD1. I just heard back from my RE that I will be starting 100mg of clomid 5-9 instead of 50mg 5-9. Has anyone else been bumped up to 100mg even if they ovulated on the first cycle of 50mg?

Yep - I ov'd on 50mg. One follicle each time - although I sometimes didn't ov until cd25+. Then I was tried on 100mg clomid for one cycle & had FOUR follicles. We tried that month but it wasn't a risk I wanted to take every month. Finally we did 100mg for the first day & then 50mg the last four days & got a bfp.

Yes. Last cycle I took 50mg of clomid CD 5-9. Then on CD 15 had one good follicle and had the trigger shot to induce O. Progesterone on CD 21 was only 13.4 and BFNs

This cycle I did 100mg of clomid CD 5-9. On CD 15 had 1 good follicle and had the trigger shot. Progesterone on CD 21 was only 13.7. BFNs so far. AF due to arrive Tuesday or Wednesday.

My Gyno said he'd upping me this next cycle to 150 mg CD 5-9.

Thank you ladies! k4th congrats! I was a little nervous since on the 50mg I produced 3 eggs that I ended up ovulating.Hopefully this works! Multiples don't scare me but I don't really want to become Octomom lol baby dust FLarmywife!

I think maybe because 24 isn't that high you were bumped up? I didn't O on 50mg and O'd on 100mg at 98-122 progesterone so went from no O to really good O. Perhaps that's what they're trying to get with you? That said, I had a chemical pregnancy after I'd O'd the first time at 100mg so maybe it doesn't increase egg quality at all!

Sorry to hear about your chemical but congrats on your current! I am not sure. I trust my doctor, but I am always curious to know the why behind things. I was told they like the progesterone to be over 15 for a medicated cycle and when they called to give my results the nurse said "my dear you definitely ovulated!" so I was under the interpretation 24 was pretty good. What cycle of clomid were you on when you conceived your little sticky bean? (if you don't mind me asking)

I conceived this one on cycle 5, but of those cycles 2 were wasted 50mg cycles. Once on 100mg I had a chemical, then no success the next cycle, and cycle after that was the one!! I think there are varying levels of PCOS and that's why it was so easy for me. I've got cysts but no other symptoms so I firmly believe ovulation is my only issue. Diet is key! Good luck!

Thanks ladies and congrats! Its so refreshing to hear some success stories I heard back from my doctor yesterday afternoon and instead of upping my dose she decided to give me an extra day of 50mg instead. I asked what the reasoning was behind everything and she said that she was going to up my dose originally because she wants me to ovulate sooner than CD20. She decided not to increase my dose because she doesn't want me to produce even more follicles.

Laura- up until this cycle my ovaries were covered in cysts but when I had my base scan yesterday, there weren't as many. But I do have other symptoms such as overweight and facial hair. I am trying my best to stay away from carbs and sugars. This will be my second cycle of clomid, hoping for the best!
