Apart from drinking lots of water and having baby suck lots what can I do to increase my milk? i.e eat certain foods or take supplements?

Im pretty stressed and tired at the min and I think its having an effect. I hardly have anything in the evenings.

Oats, porridge, flapjacks are all good for increasing milk :D

Most people find they 'feel' like they have less in the evenings. How do you know you have less??

What MervsMum said, and lots of carbs too.

i like to think chocolate helps!!!
lots of skin to skin time and eating little and often is supposed to help.
im taking fenugreek which is helping me xx

She was really unsettled this evening she fed on and off all evening and every time she dropped off to sleep she would wake 10 mins later crying. I normally give her a bottle at 11pm but I gave her it at 9pm tonight and she drank 5oz but had been sucking on me solidly for an hour before the bottle.

maybe shes going through a growth spurt? harry had one at around 5 weeks old and he wanted to feed all the time and didnt seem satisfied and i kept thinking it must be becasue i didnt have enough milk but after about 2 days it calmed back down again. if she is going through a growth spurt it shouldnt last long and shes just telling your bbs to make more milk for her so they should catch up with her soon and she will be back to normal feeding xx

Lots of naked time, if your not doing anything get some snacks a big bottle of water phone/phones, strip baby down to her nappy, get into bed topless and just chill out let baby nurse as often a she wants too. its great for milk production and its nice down time for you too.

good luck

I have exact same problem!! Are you giving breast milk in the bottle or formula? Poppy's been really unsetteled at night, feeding then waking up seemingly hungry half an hour later, and was considering topping up with formula last thing at night. But then i wondered if it was just that she wanted the comfort more than the food? So hard to tell when you're BF!

I do give formula at night now. Mostly because I was going to go back to work in 3 months and didnt want her to not take formula or bottles so started giving one a day at bedtime and it turned out she slept better on it.

i have just started taking fenugreek and it is meant to work really well, ive also started giving 10mins on each boob over and over until she is full, that way im hoping both boobs will get the signal to produce more then i can go onto one boob at a time again, am feeding her every 3hrs aswell even if she doesnt cry for it

Lots of younger babies (both bf and ff) do alot of cluster feeding in the evening... being unsettled is also common. Mainly because for the first few months they have growth spurts constantly.

Like the others said, fenugreek... there are some herbal teas and things you can take to help too. Make sure your drinking tons of water and eating enough too!

I dont know how true it is but i heard that horlicks helps not sure how true it is i drank it when Ellie was about the same age im pretty sure she was having a growth spurt i considered topping her up but in the end it passed.

My health visitor bought be a box of porridge, glucose powder (sugar shot she called it) and horlicks she told me to "get all down ya" lol. Ellie was really poorly when she was 3 weeks and i think with the stress and me being poorly to it all got me down and im sure my milk started to dwindle abit. But after all of those i was spraying everywhere lol so it defo did help. I was also told lucazade helps not sure how true that is either!

lol i think it is normal to go 3 hours, i just have a really hungry baby!!
