Really I am wondering if my OH is supposed to come with me? Im being induced at night and I am assuming it takes a while and I will deliver the next day. Did your people stay with you the whole time? We will have kids at home and I am just trying to plan a bit.

I had the same exact as you are describing. Dh went in with me but then went home in the middle of the night. Pitocin wasn't started til the next morning. 12 hrs on cervadil. So honestly if you have kids at home he wouldn't need to be there til the next morning. My dh was too nervous to leave and then once home too nervous to sleep so he came back pretty early am. Lol. And I was so crampy I didn't sleep even though I tried. I was 1cm when I went in, still 1 when they started pitocin, 4 cm after lunch then they broke my water. A few hours later I had an epi. Was skill 4cm after the epi. But then went from 4 to pushing within 2 hrs.

Good luck!

Hi there, im getting induced tomorrow, and it will be the third time for me. I had my mum, partner and sister with me both times! the 1st time i got induced it only took 6hrs from when they first inserted the gel till my son was born, and the second time was only 4hrs from start too finish. midwife wife seems to think this time it will be even shorter. but i guess all labours and inductions are different. I have had friends that have been induced and theres have taken a long time! best of luck for you and your family!

i was given the gel around 10.30pm they werent expecting me to go into labour so fast i sent DH home after half an hour or so to relieve the babysitter and everything kicked off i had to call him back at 6am to get him in so he wouldnt miss it lol. but it was my second labour so that would be probably why it was alot faster

Honestly it all depends on how the induction goes. With my first I was induced due to pre-e and the cervadil was inserted at 8 PM, and pitocin wasn't started until 6 am the next morning. Hubby was with me as I'd never done it before, and I wanted him there the whole time.

The second time they started the induction with a gel on the cervix at 1 pm the day before the "real" induction was to start and they sent me home after monitoring to make sure the baby was ok. The gel kickstarted the labor and I had my baby that evening, so I didn't really do the whole wait in the hospital thing. It was really nice that they did it so that I could be sent home. If I had to do the overnight way again I would proably go in alone and leave hubby at home and call him when/if the contractions started being regular with the back up care being ready to take over right away if needed, and have him come in when they start the pitocin otherwise. Between my contractions starting and delivery was 3 hours, so plenty of time to get hubby there as we live 10 minutes from the hospital.

It's really up to you if you think it would be useful to have people with you in the early stages. It's kind of hard to say until you know how the induction is going to go. Good luck and I hope everything goes smoothly for you. :)
