So I was scheduled for induction for GD at 38+4 weeks. I called the delivery suite at 8am on 13th May as arranged to check they had availability and they advised to come on in.
I'd had a sweep at 37 & 38 weeks and had been told I wouldn't need the pessary they would be able to just break my waters this was untrue so the pessary was inserted and I settled in on the ward for a 24 hr wait.
The next morning I was advised due to a busy patch they couldn't move me to the next stage till the afternoon so I waited and waited until finally at 1.30pm the pessary was removed and my waters were broken.
From there it went crazy. I went from 2- 4 cms dilated in 2 hours. I was then told I had 2 hours to get to 5 cm or they would put me on pitocin by 5pm I was telling the midwife I needed to push. She didn't believe me and said baby was probably in a funny position but it was my choice and she would check me if I insisted. I insisted, she checked and I was 9cm with a tiny lip of cervix left.
At that point she got on the phone and said she needed help getting me to a delivery room now cos I was about to have this baby.
Another midwife came running in, they wheeled me on the bed to a delivery room and I started pushing, they managed to get their gloves on just in time to catch her as she was born at 5.47pm.
Total duration of labour 4hrs 22 mins.
