My poor little princess developed cradle cap at about 9 weeks old. I have tried the various baby oil, olive oil, oilatum bath stuff and the cream etc. But she has it on her forehead. temples and sides of her face and has it really bad behind her ears which is red and sometimes weeps. I was wondering if it could be infected, i have called the HV and am waiting for a call back. I think it itches as she keeps swiping her hand over her ear where it is worst:cry: The heat isn't helping either. I just want to be doing what i can for her, if it is infected with a yeast infection creams can feed the infection can't they?

Any advice ladies, thanks

Hi..I feel your pain.
My LO started with cradle cap at around 10 weeks...I too tried oilatum, oil, vaseline, everything to soften the scales and remove..but nothing worked. It got worse and it too went behind her ears and they wept and bled. It was also bright red and very angry in areas.. and smelt fungal. Cradle cap is under the umbrella term soebherric dermatitis and includes eczema - the heat will make her worse...

I was fobbed off by the HV countless times in the end I went to the GP and he gave me some antifungal shampoo (Ketaconazole) and some Fucidin cream for the red areas.

If you think it is infected go to the docs....wish I had gone sooner

:flower:

I used Dentinox shampoo to treat it and it was gone in about 4 days x

The only thing that worked for me was boots botanics baby shampoo here https://www.boots.com/en/Botanics-Gentle-Mild-Baby-Shampoo-300ml_54510/

It was almost gone within 3 washes :thumbup::thumbup:

I have to also suggest Dentinox, it has cleared Lilybelle's up within a matter of days as hers was starting to get infected x

Thanks for the advice.

I saw the practice nurse yesterday, but i seemed to know more than him:wacko: He prescribed 2% anti-fungal cream (daktarin Gold) He was just guessing tho and i asked if i should be shampooing it out and he said wash her "as normal":dohh:

I put it on twice yesterday and once so far today but it looks worse and her ears are still red and weepy. How long do you think it will take to start working?

It will probably take a few days to look any better at all but once you see an improvement I bet it'll be gone really fast!x

My lo got a antibiotic (poly fax) / hydrocortisone cream prescribed by dermatologist while we where there for another reason. It really worked quick, his cradle cap was disgusting! Had to peel him of the bed in the morning!

You can buy dentinox cradle cap shampoo from the supermarket or even the local spar/co-op. I am another to recommend it - its brilliant stuff. Cleared within a couple of days, and now I use it once a week to just prevent it - and he hasnt had it since!

Hope it gets better soon xx

i might be wrong but it sounds to me like eczema. My DD1 had that from when she was little and she suffers from severe eczema, has even been hospitalized more than once. It can be controled though...try see a dermatologist. xxx
