Hiya

A few nights ago I had pain and felt like I was bleeding. Went to the toilet and had lots of shing/watery discharge which wasnt white as normal but not dark brown. For over 24 hours had none or normal white discharge then had like a yellowish discharge again. Then again normal then about 24 hours or more after had bit of aching and some more this time snotty like yellowish discharge. Throughout the day on pantyliner sometimes looks like a yellowish but sometimes just get usual. Had scan wednesday and baby is fine. Mw said need swabs to check for infection but doctors cant get me in til wednesday morning then I have to wait for results which I am hoping will be before the bank holiday!

Has anyone else experienced similar. I am wondering if may just be normal for my body. No smell etc.

Xx

Ive had yellow discharge and i looked it up on here before and seemed a few others had too and it turned out to be nothing just one of those odd pregnancy things we get :) x

Thanks. Because I had had watery discharge my mw said it needed checking out. Its just so confusing how it swaps and changes. Just been toilet and bright yellow on liner but then will prob go pale again later! Grrrrr. Lol. Xx

I've had yellow discharge, some times thick and snot like since I got my BFP. It also leaves a yellowey stain on underwear. I remember having an increase in discharge with DD but couldnt remember if it was yellow or not. Went to the doctor this week and had swabs just to be on the safe side, and all came back clear. Just normal pregnancy discharge

I think yellow discharge in pregnancy is quite common, and discharge is usually more abundant anyway. I think it's best to get checked just to make sure it's not an infection or anything that can get passed to baby.

By the way - Are you taking any prenatal vitamins? Im taking Pregnacare ones and have been since my bfp and have noticed that my pee is BRIGHT yellow and my discharge kind of reflects that too. Im curious if the vitamins could be causing the discharge to be more yellow in colour

x

Yeah I take vitamins and pee has been v.yellow both pregnancies. Lmao.

Sorry if tmi, but mine during pregnancy always looks slimed, stretchy and a pale green colour, literally in all my pregnancies. I was told this is probably down to hormones as my swabs never tested positive for anything. In fact when I have had thrush, and bv they've been a symptomatic. It always used to freak me out though as am prone to vaginal infection, however this just seems normal to me. An off yellow type cast is fairly common in non pregnant discharge too from what I've read. Maybe go get a swab done to ease your mind though, always better to check it out.

I've had this too, pale yellow and slimy. I think if it has no offensive odour it's fine.

I've read it is the mucous plug building up xx

^^^^^ agreed. I think part of it may be down to the loss of small amounts of plug, which is fine as it regenerates. As a rule when I have had a nasty infection, such as one I picked up from hospital after my second baby ( staph aureus...nice) I have either literally been gushing watery discharge non stop, not like the occassional gushes you get when you have normal watery cm, or the discharge is dark yellow similar to pus. Another common one is bv which is an over growth of natural flora called anaerobes, this smells distinctively fishy. If you are asymptomatic with this the dr may or may not treat you, there re different schools of thought with regards to its role in pre term labour.

Anyhoo, if it smells normal it probably is normal. Tbh, antib's can cause mre problems than they're worth, but if your concerned you can get vaginal gels which balance the ph of the vagina and are totally safe whether you have an infection or not.

I've been having this on and off through this whole pregnancy so far! I've also had blood mixed in with it too so I went and had swabs taken on Tuesday to check for infection and will hopefully get the results on Monday. I'll try to remember to update with the results. I know I had the snot-like discharge when I was pregnant with my son but I don't think this much or this often. But then I have heard that in second, third, etc, pregnancies, you are more prone to even more discharge because your cervix never fully closes after you give birth (if you give birth naturally of course). I read something to that effect somewhere x

I've also been googling the life out of this since I've had it and like the others have said, I've read lots of people saying it can be parts of the mucus plug but not to worry as it regenerates. I did read one post that said that couldn't be true, once your mucus plug goes, that's it, it's gone but someone else replied saying they lost their plug at 28 weeks and then again when they went into labour at or around 42 weeks so it must have replenished. My CM is definitely similar to when I lost my mucus plug x

Thanks ladies. Hoping for just normal. My mw was concerned due to the pain and then the watery discharge which came with it. I also have a h/o smear issues and had to have a large area of cells removed so anything like this worries me lol.

Xx

As above, I lost my plug just the once with DD but about 3 times with DS. I was told that the cervix never completely closes after first baby too.
