So went to the dr today to confirm pregnancy (5 weeks) and to get swabbed as per the gyne's recommendations due to miscarriage caused by pseudamonas and positive swab result after miscarriage for BV, She did not want to do it said i would rather you waited till you got booked in and let the hospital do it.
she finally did it after telling her i didnt make it to the booking in date with previous pregnancy and that if i had known i had an infection last time i would be holding my baby instead of the scan picture.
She has said that she wont be doing anymore swabs as this also can lead to infection which i understand but how will i know if i still have the BV as this is a reocurring infection and symptoms are not always present?

That seems like a weird experience. Are you able to see a different doctor? Is there a NICE standard for that situation?

Thts such a strange thing for a doc to say. How else would thy diagnose a vaginal infection? I lost my first pg due to an undiagnosed UTI, since I got preg ths time round,I have insisted on vaginal swabs and urine cultures every 2 week's to check for infection. Midwife has never refused till now nd I hav got to 34 weeks!

I would find another doc for another opinion

Recurrent uti's, bv, and thrush can be prevented by taking probiotics. You have too much 'bad bacteria' taking over your 'good bacteria'. There's loads of info on google, if a doc gives you antibiotics again, the antibiotics will kill your good flora along with the bad hence recurrence. Build up your immune system (which is connected to your gut flora), with some probiotics.

Your doctor should be happy to check you out, that's why she's getting paid!!! My doc scheduled a prenatal appt with me that encompasses a pap, it certainly doesn't harm the cervix to get swabbed, it protects baby & mom's health.

The lady Dr is only new to the surgery.
My old Dr retired he was my Dr from i was born and i know he would have done it every week to put my mind at ease. I have my midwife appointment in 9 days and will demand a proper one (in my shy voice)
I think i will also ask for a cervical scan at 16 weeks due to having a leep and a d&c last year and on the report of not knowing how the infection got inside my cervix during pregnancy
If i get a swab done at my midwife appointment at 10 weeks when should i request another 1. I do have a history of bacterial vaginosis and the pseudomonas infection which caused the 12+6 miscarriage
