I am now 7 weeks pregnant after a 13 week miscarriage in june due to a rare infection called pseudomonas, had no symptoms, discharge or anything. started bleeding went for early scan and told everything was fine 4 days later i was holding my baby in my hands.
The gyne that reported back to me about the postmortem i have never seen, had to travel 45min each way to see her, she said that i would be swabbed early in my next pregnancy for infection, my own dr was reluctant to do this she eventually did but not in the right way she NEVER used the speculum and only swabbed the outside. I will ask for this to be done at my booking in appointment at the midwives but my question to anyone that reads this is would you want to be swabbed at a later date also as this infection can present with no symptoms.
My mum has me worked up to the point of strapping myself to the bed and not leaving till i get the tests done, hindsight is knowing now that a course of antibiotics could have saved my baby is a heartbreaker

I didn't want to read and run but I'm not too sure on that one, lovely. Maybe go back to the other doctor, from last time? I've had no medical attention, not even weighing or a blood test, all because of an incompetent doctor, despite my second tri and early m/c's.
Wishing you a happy and healthy nine months :hugs:

Hi there,

I am so sorry for everything you have gone through. Please dont beat yourself up for what you "could of" done in your last pregnancy. As with many of us, pregnancy is all a learning experience, and thats why we are supposed to be guided by our doctors. To answer your question, personally, I would definitly get swabbed twice for this pregnancy and just cover your basis. Even if your doc doesnt suggest it, I would insist on having it done. There is no harm in getting tested twice or even three times, as it will put your mind at ease. I wish you the best!
