Insanely craving very naughty/weird smells !

ok ladies ....
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me im not alone in this !
For the past week i have been having the most intense desire for smells ! I only want them if i can smell them, so im not just randomly sitting at home and going "oh, i want to smell this".
It's more if i smell it, I NEED to keep smelling it !

Only problem is, they are usually things i shouldnt be smelling ! like things that are dangerous to be smelling!

I sat in my shower for 15minutes smelling my soap out of the bottle last night and i had to force myself out !

When i'm cleaning with disenfectant/bleach/other cleaning products, my mouth waters, and i just want to sit there smelling it, but obviously i dont because i know how dangerous it is !

Petrol is a HUGE one! the smell of petrol makes my mouth water and i just want to sit there and smell for hours.

I have absolutely NO desire to eat any of this either, just smell it !

I think this is called 'pica' when you crave smells/tastes/sensations that are slightly odd!

It can sometimes mean you're deficient in something so could be worth mentioning at your next appointment.

I had it in my last pregnancy and I have it in this one too.
All I can think about is the smell of lemon Cif and my lemon shower gel
I've been scrubbing the kitchen floor almost every night with a tiny sponge and lemon cif just so I can smell it, I also sit in the bath for ages with a handfull of shower gel just sniffing

I got bored of constantly cleaning a clean kitchen to get my smell craving that I now just squirt some on a sponge and smell that for a bit!!

I can stuff my face in freshly done laundry and sit there for ages. I even wore a freshly laundered hoodie to bed so I could sniff it all night without DH noticing buahahaha!

I'm also loving the smell of fresh muffins though I have no temptation to eat them whatsoever :-S I keep on going to the kitchen to open the box n sniff it.

Ooh and petrol like OP.. definitely!

Yep im craving them too and white spirit and tip ex hehe. BUT i cant not smell them i HAVE to smell them again n again! n the smell is bleach OMG give me a bottle now lol. Washin when its just been washed n its still wet i have to pull every item out the washer n sniff it at least twice. Crazy huh!!

Oh my gosh! i am exactly the same, glad im not the only one! Petrol is the biggest 1! i keep making my OH let me go and fill the cars up so i can get my fix! lol. Also the smell of chlorine and bleech! the other weird 1 is the tumble dryer! when the tumble dryer is on i just sit next to it sniffing! lol

With each pregnancy I have had this bad. The smell of petrol the most and nail varnish.

Have you had your bloods checked?? I get like this when I am anaemic, Wrights coal tar soap - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I dont want to eat it yet, just really love smelling it and sit for ages with it in the bath. Last time I was pregnant I progressed to chewing ramer sponges (not eating them), this time its crunching ice.

The need to smell soap and crunch ice has decreased a lot since I started iron tablets a couple of weeks ago though, so maybe you are slightly anaemic?

I have this as well.

I love the smell of soaps and clean washed laundry. I even put a softner bag in my bubs cupboard so that it can smell like baby all the time. I also love the smell of rain on the ground after a hot day as it smells like dust (I know it's due to iron as I eat a lot of ice as well)

Lemon Kitchen cleaner is the best!!!

I love the rubbery smell of my birthing ball. also I have the most intense craving to eat sandpaper. I wanna rub it on my Tongue, crunch it between my teeth and taste the woody chemical-y taste. I know I'm a big weirdo lol. I won't do it coz of the damage it'll do to my teeth but man I want to so bad! (and yes, I'm anaemic!) x

Omg this is hilarious! I love the smell/feel of a new tennis ball. Lol. Also new tires. I got a flat and had to get a new tire and when I went to the shop it smelled soooo good from all the new tires lol. So weird!!! I also like this one cleaner we have that I clean the counters with, it has a fresh lemony smell to it. Also spunges lol. The smell and feel of a new spunge.

It's most likely anemia. I'm anemic with this pregnancy as well as my last and I go through this too!
