I just did the fitness test and I was literally in tears. I couldn't even do the star jump pushup thingies and my other ones were quite pitiful too. Has anyone else started from an awful state of fitness and got through? I don't know whether to do something else instead or not.

Personally, I would say it's not for beginners. I'm quite fit, and I found it very challenging. There are no easy options or modifications for any of the moves ie all the press ups are full press ups on your toes etc.
Xx

I completed Insanity 1.5 years ago and I was not in the best of shape... I thought I was going to die numerous times while doing it, but Shaun T is a great motivator and I stuck with it. I was getting in shape for my wedding. Once I completed that I actually was able to move on to Asylum and now I am doing Focus T25. I am a mom now so 25 minutes is all I can give up to work out... Stick to it you will be amazed at how you feel and what you can actually do 2 weeks in... Its tough and I was not able to do all the moves right away but eventually I could and felt great. Good luck!!

At first, I found it challenging yet still fun. I managed to still keep up and I couldn't wait to continue. Eventually I got addicted. I was doing three workouts a day cuz I couldn't stop... The only reason why I would stop was either for work or bedtime...and my bf would have to pull the plug. I was outdoing most of the ppl in the program by pushing myself harder and not taking beaks at all, just doing plyo jumps or pushups during water breaks and starting the next vid right away, and others have witnessed it too in astonishment. I did this for almost a year, and was obviously underweight. I never followed the nutrition program either, just tried to stay low calorie and low carb. I was also doing p90x at the same time. Yup I had a problem because my whole mindset used to be just on working out, even at the sacrifice of my health.

I started with Insanity and I was not fit. I only made it about two weeks. Shaun T is really good at making you feel like the most unfit person on the planet!! I would honestly suggest his newest program T25 over Insanity for beginners. You're going to hate your life during that too, but it's not nearly as difficult and I have seen massive results with myself since starting it. I'm now in the Gamma phase (the third one) and I love it. I've built a lot of muscle, but it took me probably about 6 weeks before I noticed a difference. I am very busy, and my work schedule is terrible, so the fact that it is only 25 minutes as opposed to 45-50 minutes is a huge plus for me. I literally never have an excuse to skip it, so it makes it easier to continue. It is also a lot easier on my feet, and of course Tania is in it as well, and she is the modifier for T25. If I feel like I can't possibly do any more...instead of stopping I just start following Tania and modifying. Good luck! :)

I just started it and due to medical conditions I really can't work out much. I do all the exercises with as much intensity as I am comfortable with an adapt the exercises when I feel the need. My goal is to keep moving through the entire video. The good thing is that I am moving more than I was before and that is the goal.

I say keep to the videos however don't stress out and kill yourself trying to keep up. Each week it will get easier and easier and you will advance at your own pace.
