Hey ladies.. I know that the Dr's say to wait until your 6 week postnatal check up before you resume sexual activities however I was wondering, if you have not had an episiotimy or tearing and your bleeding has stopped for some time, would it then be OK, or should you still wait until the postnatal check up?? I had no complications with the birth and the bleeding has stopped for a while now.

It seems that now that the bump is gone, OH's sex drive has gone through the roof and there's not a day that goes by that he doesn't try to make a move and I keep telling him that I have to wait until the postnatal check up. I feel fine, and I wouldn't mind, but I wouldn't want there to be any problems/complications if I don't wait.

ALSO...

My mother says that if you don't wait it out for a few months that you will end up getting loose down there (TMI?? Sorrie!!!) and this is something that I definately don't want to risk .. However, she does have a lot of advice about a lot of things that aren't necessarily true, so I was wondering, is this true??? Any advice/comments are welcome!!!! Thanks!

My best friend had sex 3 weeks post partum and has had no problems!!!

I don't think that thing about being loose could possibly be true... you've had a 10cm head come out of there, i dont think your OHs bits could do any more damamge than that. Ive seen some pelvic floor toning systems you can get though which I think help with that if you're worried?

Also I dont think there are any problems with sex before 6 wks as long as you're feeling up to it!

Have fun ;)

xxx

Well, I have found a few things on the web about this and apparently, in as little as 10 days postpartum and once bleeding has stopped it is OK to resume sexual activity because once the bleeding has stopped, this indicates that the cervix has closed.. I guess this would mean that I am fine right now :) The only problem at this point would be birth control which I have not yet started.. Does anyone have any suggestions on which birth control methods have been effective for them?

i dont think is to much of a problem to have intercourse before 6 weeks if ur up for it. i shall be waiting a little longer for c section to heal first xxx

Yeouch - I don't like the thought even right now!! Had lots of stitches though and am still quite sore so thats different I guess!
OH sex drive is also through the roof at the moment but he's just getting told where to go lol! x

Bleeding finally stopped, but we're just too dang tired to even think about sex right now.

My baby was born a week before yours and it's only been a week that I've really started to think about having it. My mom is here with us, so it makes it a little more difficult. We still haven't done it yet.

I'm dying to have sex again but I haven't stopped bleeding completely yet!

Me and my OH had sex 3 weeks afterwards and there was no complications or anything :)
