Interesting news re: Ashton & Parson's Teething Powder

A girl I go to baby group with said she'd gone to our local chemist to ask about it because apparently it's very rarely in Boots anymore and she said the company have stopped selling it because people were buying it to put in drugs!! Mixing it with cocaine or something similar. Shocking!! No wonder it's hard to get your hands on now.

People use loads of similar powder stuff to mix with drugs, glucose for example, I doubt a company would stop making a profitable product because some people misuse it, unless they were made to??
I heard the fire thing too last year when it was never in boots. Seems ok to get in our boots now though x

I've been told both. I've stopped even trying to get it and moved onto anbesol instead. It's selling for stupid prices on amazon and stuff x

I e-mailed the company who make Ashton and Parsons baby powders - as Iwas getting increasignly annoyed at hearing different "reasons" as to why they are in short supply / not on shelves (out of stock / been recalled / packaging being re-branded to name a few!) This is the actual, official response from SSL International, based at Trafford Park, Manchester, who make the powders:

"Unfortunately there is an issue with the manufacturing process for Ashtons & Parsons Infant Powder at the moment. The issue is likely to impact the supply and availability of Ashton & Parsons Infant powders for several months. In the meantime I would advise that you contact you local pharmacist for an suitable alternative product."

That's exactly what I had heard too. And googled it and saw some things on forums too. Can't believe you can actually discuss drug use on a public forum too! Not this one, but one I was on...shocking!
