i was BFing and couldnt anymore because he stopped lactching on so i'm pumping but have sore nipples and want to switch to formula now b/c i will be returning to school and work soon as well. but my question is i introdued formula incorrectly :dohh: and now he is super fussy, his never calm inless his sleeping and now wakes up every 2 hrs he wasnt like that while i was BFing so i think its the formula. my boyfriend says to just BF for a few days and then start mixing in the formula and start re-introducing, should i just mix in now or BF for a few days cause it will just mess his tummy up even more? i was feeding him similac- advance and he is 1 month old.

With babies it's all trial and error. You should try again. No harm done. We've all done things wrong in hindsight!

Some babies don't take to formula well and you have to go through a few different kinds before you find the right one for your LO. My son ended up on a soy based one and well, my daughter doesn't get it... she has had 3-4 bottles of it in the past few weeks and it made her have very hard uncomfortable poo... so we won't use it again. I would maybe try mixing it with some BM to ease over? Might help... I'm not too sure though. Good luck!

keep trying, i BF and then had to FF ( my supply went due to stress in hospital) and he swaped fine after a few goes. We were on C and G and not on aptimal. good luck xx

I also had to switch to formula because I couldn't produce the milk. What I did was mix the two together. I mixed a couple oz of formula with what I could pump. Eventually the milk wasn't enough for him and he required strictly formula.

If the formula you are using doesn't seem to fill him up, try increasing the amount of formula or using a different brand.

If you aren't sure which brand to try, sign up for a bunch of the free samples (if they are available in your area). I was able to have formula samples sent to me from Similac, Enfamil and Heinz and we found that Enfamil was best for our LO.
