Hi everyone. :flower:

I'm Terah, I'm 21, and I am now a single mom of two. I have a four year old son named Aiden and an almost three year old daughter named Madalynn (Mady). In June I split up with my husband. I am the one who broke things off because all we were doing was fighting and it just wasn't good for the kids. We haven't filed for divorce yet, but that will be happening soon.

As for my question...my ex told a friend of ours that if I file for child support, that he will file for full custody of our children. I am terrified of this happening, not so much because I don't want the kids with him, but just because I don't want to lose my children. Can anyone offer me any advice or anything about what to do about this?

I'm not if it's any different where you are, but here children are generally left in the care of the mother unless she is unfit. So many Dads threaten mothers with going for full custody but it's just intimidation - don't let him shrug off his fincancial responsibilities by trying to frighten you. I'm sure his solicitor would advise him not to waste his money before it gets to court. Speak to a solicitor yourself and get some legal advice

Welcome to Single Parenting forum btw :flower:

Yeah in UK the child normally resides with the mother unless they can prove she is unfit to care for the child. Child maintenance is for your child and has nothing to do with him filing for court. Let him, he'll get visitation rights.

Hello and welcome :hugs: I'm also in the UK so not sure if it's different where you are xx
