Hi Ladies. I am new to this site. I'm Lauren and my husband is Andrew. We have been trying for two months now. However I am having trouble calculating my ovulation because I have irregular cycles. I was looking for some buddies who have had or do have the same problem. Looking for some encouragement.

Hey hun welcomeee :)
I have irregular periods, i was on cerazette for 2.5years with no bleed, came off in november 2010, had a period in jan, didnt have one in feb, had one in march, didnt have one in april but tested negative, and been having brown blood and pinky coloured cm this month but today tested negative, i know how frustrating it can be, have u tried ovulation tests? xxxx

Hi there! I have irregular cycles, too (usually long, but anywhere from 25-42 days) and I never ovulate at the same time! I've just bought those big boxes of ovulation predictor kits online and started testing from cycle day 8 and I've been able to catch them. Through doing that for a few months I noticed I have a luteal phase defect AND I ovulate SUPER late! Now im doing herbs to regulate things. I would definitely recommend using OPK's or charting, without them I wouldn't have known I had ovulation problems. Good luck!

I tried charting but my periods are so off it doesn't seem to work. I have been thinking about using ovulation tests kits, however I feared they would be to costly with no results. Have either of you had good luck with them?

Littlelove, you can get test kits on ebay very cheaply :)

You can get ones with Ovulation strips, preg test strips, basal thermometer and charts to mark everything down all in one packet.

What do you mean it doesn't seem to work..? Since you are irregular it's best that you chart so you know when you and IF ovulate. I'm taking Soy Isoflavones because I am irregular too. I'm on cd9 and my opks are almost postive and I'm getting o pains/ewcm! I definitly recommend them but I'd research them first if you're interested. I wish you the best of luck :)

Heya Lauren!
I am in the same boat as you, and i understand its very VERY fustrating when you are trying to conceive with this problem!
If you would like to become buddies/have a chat or anything, feel free to PM me or whatever :)

Good luck to ya sweetie :) xXx

Hi Lauren! Welcome =) I have irregular periods as well, I'm getting them every other month since coming off the pill in August. Had a period January, nothing February, March, nothing April, and it's only May 7, but so far nothing this month besides extremely light spotting that has seemed to stop for now.

Good luck, and lots of baby dust

Hi Lauren! I have irregular cycles too. I went off BC 7 months ago and still am not regular. My cycles were anywhere from 5-7 weeks long until January. I went from January to April without AF but had BFN. It can be extremely frustrating! Do you track BBT, CM, etc? I know I really wanted to just "let it happen," but with irregular cycles I have to pay attention to my body.

Hi!! I have the same problems as you!! my cycles can last 35, 45 days or even more!!! my dr told me last monday, that both my ovaries are polichistic, so she sent me some medication, and asked me to TTC and wished me luck... I cant help myself, but sometimes get anxious, or depressed, because my DH and I want a baby now, and we dont know if this is serious, or is something we can overcome. So I guess I know how you feel!

There are these ovulation predictor kits that Ive heard theyre very useful! I just got a kit, and hope it helps!!

I wish you can conceive a baby soon!! Im sure you can do it!!!! :flower:

Thank you all so much! It truly feels good to know I am not alone. My cycles can last any where from 45 days to 12 days apart so not normal. It never bothered me when I wasn't ttc but now that we are it seems so frustrating. I read someone mentioned the bt which I have tried to use but because I don't get up at the same time everyday because of work and my very needy dogs I wasn't getting any helpful results. I have an appointment on the 16th with a new OBGYN who I am hoping will put me on some type of medication to regulate my cycles. I wish you all the best of luck and I'm sending all of you baby dust! Mother's day has been hard for me this year (to many happy moms to be in my life and I am sadly not one of them yet)

There's a website called whenmybaby.com that has a basal body themometer converter. I think it's pretty accurate. You could try setting an alarm for early and taking it then and going back to sleep? It will help tremendously hun. Hopefully you get your cycles regulated!! I wish you the best of luck xxx

Before you look into meds to regulate ovulation (some doctors make you wait a year, anyway), it might be worth checking out herbs like vitex, soy isoflavones, maca, and vitamin b....they seem to work for lots of women and are very inexpensive and safe. :)

Awww dont be sad! Im so sure youll be able to celebrate it yourself by next year! just be positive! :hugs:

I am in the same boat as well! I have super irregular cycles..... before I got married, I literally went for 9 months without menstruating (and only had a period at the end of the 9 months because my gynecologist induced it). Now that we are trying to TTC, it is a real cause for headache and also heartbreak. Since coming off birth control my cycles have been even more all over the place than normal! So I completely feel your pain. Right now I am charting to try to figure out what my cycles are doing, and I'm also on Vitex, which is supposed to help even things out... hoping it works!

Hi everyone - I am new to this site so all you will have to bear with me! I am getting really frustrated at the mo and could do with a bit of support!! :-(

I came off the pill 1 year ago (had been on it for about 8 years without a break) and have been trying since then but since coming off the pill, my periods have been between 8-10 weeks apart!!!! I have been to the doctors a few times and had blood tests and all seems OK but nothing seems to be happening.

I have been using the ovulation sticks for the past 4 months now and still not managed to catch it - always saying negative! :-( Am I right in thinking the ovulation date should be about 17 days before your period is due?? I have been trying to go off this rule and been testing 2-3 times a day for a couple of weeks around this time and it just always says no....

If anyone has any suggestions, I would REALLY appreciate it. I just want my cycle to be more normal so that I can work out when I am ovulating! x

Well, dunno what to say, but have you told your doctor, about the results of your ovulation kits? that it´s always negative? Ive known that there are medication that help you ovulate!

Sorry if im not much help, but youre in the right place for support! :flower:

Hi there!
I have very irregular cycles too, FF and OPK's help me :D

You won't necessarily ovulate 17 days before your period is due. In fact, that would be an unusually long luteal phase (time between ovulation and menstruation) - typical is 10-14 days, though you can vary either way by a few days. (Anything under 10 days, though, is too short to support a pregnancy.) I also have really irregular cycles, and so I bought a bunch of cheap ovulation test strips from amazon and started using one every day about a week after my period, so I'd be sure to catch the surge. They were super cheap, so I didn't lose much money from it! Also if you chart your cycles using your basal body temperature, you should usually know when ovulation has happened and how long your luteal phase is.

Has anyone used vitex, soy isoflavones, maca and or vitamin b with any luck and or success? I wanted some more information before I ran out and bought anything.
