Hey ladies...

I think i have irregular periods, anyone had experience with this? How will it affect my ability to fall pregnant... We haven't been trying long, only about 2-3 months now, but since we conceived within 2 weeks of trying with our first this is weighing on my mind now...

I think I have irregular periods because:

1. Last Period: 9th of June
2. Month before: my period started on the 1st
3. Month before that was on the 1st as well.
4. The month before that was the 28th
5. The month before that was about the 25th...

Anything you ladies can suggest to help or advice? When am i most fertile & best time to conceive?

umm I think if you actually figure out how many days ur cycle is, people will be more helpful!

Start a chart and fill in those days....FF should give you an average length. It does not sound like its that irregular.

Use OPK's. Your luteal phase should stay the same, no matter how long your cycles are, so once you have tested for a few cycles you'll have a better idea when to expect AF.

I would also use smilies so you can pinpoint the exact day you ovulate.

My cycles go from 28-36 days so I feel your pain!!

ok.... WHOA!

I have NO idea what you're all talking about??? Sorry i'm a bit new to this... Fell pregnant really easy (within 2 weeks of trying) with my first pregnancy and so never had to track/follow any of this...

Most online fertility calculators don't help because the first day of my last period is usually 30 days or more than the last & they stupid thing always tell me to consult a doc... But i know if i go to my gynae she'll tell me to keep trying a bit longer before consulting her... URGH! so annoying!!!

So Conina, please can you explain again in laymans terms...

TX

Oh sorry about that, if you're on this site for long enough you kinda assume everyone knows what you're talking about!! Here goes...

Your luteal phase is the time of your cycle between ovulation and getting your period. No matter how long your cycle is, and how much it varies, your luteal phase is generally the same length, about 14 days. So if your cycles are long, it's generally the other phases of the cycle that are long, not your luteal phase. Most people's luteal phase is around 14 days. Mine is actually generally 12 days.

Because its the other phases of your cycle that can vary, if you have long cycles you may have problems knowing when you ovulate, and therefore knowing when you're most fertile. But if you use OPK's (ovulation predictor kits) you can pinpoint the day you ovulate.

I use smilie OPK's, which come up with a smilie face on the day of ovulation, rather than OPK's with lines. The line ones show up as positive for 4-5 days with me, so I prefer the smilie ones since I know for certain what day I ovulated.

Once you have been tracking your ovulation and then your period for a few months, you will know how long your luteal phase is, so you know when to expect your period or, more importantly, when to test!!

Hope this is clearer, and sorry for the jargon earlier!!

Good luck!

i came off the pill after a got married sept 09 and bled for along time, then after a few months i was only getting my peroid every other month, my longest cycle was 97 days and 2 months ago i started taking AGNUS CASTUS , the 1st month my cycle was 44 days and this month my cycle was 33 days!! so im well pleased with that x

Thanks Conina...
That sounds complicated, but i suppose you gotta do what you gotta do... I think i'll start tracking properly on a calender now!

@mummy.wannabe, wow, your cycles were long. Glad to hear things are getting better!

What??? you do not have irregular cycles! You have a period every month don't you? most websites and this forum say it can be normal for periods to fluctuate a few days here or there each month.......my last few cycles are 39 days, 33 days and now this one I'm on at the minute CD103 and counting......THATS IRREGULAR!

Your cycles don't seem all that irregular to me! I had the same problem and I noticed I would actually skip a whole month and then have two periods in one month. My cycles were anywhere from 20 to 48 days apart. If you don't want to deal with the fertility friend calculator, I would definitely keep track of your periods but use OPK's. That's what the doctor recommended for me. Unfortunately, they can get rather expensive since you have to buy the 30 day packs since you never know when your period starts or when you ovulate- (I ovulated anywhere from day 19 to day 30) but I did find out I had a luteal phase defect, too. So it was totally worth it. Once I got that under control I got pregnant 3 cycles later.

Thanks ladies, you've made me realise that in fact my periods aren't that irregular (if at all)...

Perhaps you can help with this one... i'm sure i read somewhere that you become more "mucosy" when you should are ovulating or round about the time when it's good to conceive... I can't find where i read this, does anyone know what i'm talking about? The reason i'm asking is because the last 2-3 days i've been really mucosy and am wondering if this is a good time to try & keep legs in the air ;-) sorry if TMI

I get thick cervical mucus a while before I ovulate and when I am very close to ovulation I get very watery cm which I hate and I think a lot of people say theres are watery and know to get it on
Any cm is good cm and keep having sex x
