very bad appt yesterday and i was so anxious my pulse was 135 or more. anyway, first readin 144/92 second around 143/92 (i wasnt left to calm down) and the one i asked to do myself when i was somewhat calmer but still anxious was 132/84 - my booking bp at 10 weeks was also high 148/89 but again the anxiety shone thru visably.... 16 week appt 140/60 and all my readings at home on my own device since jan have been below 129/70 (way too many to list) is this classic case of whitecoat syndrome???? my pulse was absolutely going wild yesterday at the appt which made it clear to see i was scared. i was asked if id like to have someone visit me at home or to come back to the drs but i said no since i know in myself that the reading wont change much...any advice on the last reading 132/84... is this somewhat ok???

I'm not sure if it's anxiety or not, butmy numbers at my 12 week scan were very similar.

But I had my bp checked last wed and it was very good.

The doctors said to just keep and eye out for it and try to stay calm, lol.

I am always very anxious at appointments but only 1 time I had a tiny bit high reading and that made me more nervous lol everytime since then has been good BP though..

Doesn't sound like anything to worry about.

Me and my sister are both pregnant and have been having blood pressure issues and going to get it checked each week. I wouldn't worry about that reading though when mine has been around the same as yours the doctor has seemed content.

My sisters has a BP monitor at home and it is ALWAYS lower than in the doctors when she is a bit anxious. Don't worry xx

They look at the diastolic blood pressure which is the blood flow as the heart rests, 84 is just about perfect x

i get anxious just in the waiting room ready 2 go in never known when im in there when the stupid thing is on my arm who ever invented them bloody bp machines needs shooting :flower: x

The Top number systolic, is much more reactive to things like stress and anxiety, the bottom, Dystolic number is the the one that is best to be under 90. and at 84 thats pretty perfect x
Try not to worry too much, I have always had the first reading be high and then when they take it again at the end I seem to have calmed and it is always perfect. I think there is a lot of truth behind the 2white coat syndrome" idea! its the only thing that would explain mine x

i agree about the whitecoat syndrome... im charting my bp specifically to show my drs and mw's- otherwise they'll have me in hospital due to it being so high and i really dont want that. they dont help using those machine that monitor your heart rate- the ones you can actually hear.... they scare me. thats what was used yesterday and at my bookin appt. im somewhat ok with the other ones because i cant see what it says until its finished.

140/90 is the high end of the normal range and considered borderline high...so anything under that...you're good. :)

If they do try and keep you in for high blood pressure ( which they do to me all the time lol) then ask for a 24 hour blood pressure monitor to be fitted, it measures your blood pressure every hour/half and hour and will give a much clearer result about your true blood pressure without you getting too stressed xxx

120/80 is normal blood pressure...so what you got is proly just pre hypertensive..but as long as it doesnt stay that way..you proly were just excited...

Yes, your numbers seem just fine. I take bp medication, and even then my normal home reading is high 130s or low 140s/90s. My doctor said as long as it isn't over 150 on top or 100 on bottom, then don't worry. Worrying just makes it higher;)

my numbers at home are not a patch on what i get at a drs- im wondering if my monitors are broke. ive got 2 just to double check lol
