Hi girls, I lost my precious baby girl at 19 weeks on the 21st August 2012 due to PPROM.
I found out yesterday that I am expecting a rainbow baby! Me and dh are over the moon but I'm terrified! I have my first midwife appointment on Friday.

Has anyone been through anything similar? X

Hi Hun, sorry for the loss of your precious Freya, I lost my twin boys at 20 wks due to pPROM also. I am currently 33wks (TODAY!) with our rainbow so I understand the terror! I am finally feeling a bit more relaxed as although it wouldn't be ideal if it were to happen again now the stats for survival are very high at thins gestation.

Anyway, I wish you all the best with your midwife appt - are you going to get obstetrical care also? I have had both and it has brought me great peace of mind. Did you ever get any reason for your pPROM? Here is a good link to give you ideas of what care you may wish to push for : https://www.inkan.se/pprom/pap-guidelines/

Congratulations on your pregnancy! It is a scary journey but so worth it - I also have friends online who have their ranbows now after PPROM, none of them had a recurrence. Hope that helps! xxx

Thanks for your helpful reply. Im so sorry you lost your boys but congratulations on your rainbow and to getting to 33 weeks! I can imagine its a big weight off your shoulders!
At Freya's post mortem it was concluded that an infection in the placenta made my waters break.
Ive spoken to the specialist midwife twice today, shes very helpful. She dealt with us when I had pprom. She's been liaising with my consultant today and they have put a care plan in place already which is very reassuring.
The plan is to visit the midwife on Friday at my local doctors surgery who will then organise my booking appointment at 9 weeks...from then on all my midwife appointments will be at the hospital as I am classed as high risk.
The specialist midwife has organised a reassurance scan in 4 weeks time. At the 12 week scan I will be swabbed for infection.
I asked about preventative measures such as antibiotics just incase but they said they are not keen on giving meds - especially in the first tri unless there was a sign of infection.
Thanks for the link - I'll have a look just now xx
