I think because DS is 11m and will be 19m old when baby is born im not so worried about birth. What I mean is I really wanted a home birth, no medication etc but I think I was so desperate to get what I wanted I stressed about it.all the time.eg.fussing when overdue as didn't want to be induced etc. Anyway none of it went as I wanted.
This time round I feel a bit blaze about it. I'll be so busy looking after ds.
I do worry how he will feel being shipped off to my mums wheb I'm in labour. How did your subsequent labours compare?

Yes and no

1st - 27hrs
2nd - 6hrs 20mins

2nd more painful that first because it was quicker.
2nd more painful because i had SPD

after 2nd i get quicker recovery than the first.

Both same pushing time.

My first was a 7 1/2 hour labour, small tear and some grazes.

My second was 4 1/2 hours, water birth, no tears or grazes.

So for me, yes my second was a slightly easier labour, although being able to stay in the birthing pool made a big difference for me I think. And it was quicker. I'm hoping my next will be similar.

I asked that same question a few months ago and got a lot of great responses. Here's the thread: https://babyandbump.momtastic.com/labour-birth/1162197-your-second-birth-like-7.html
Hope it can put your mind at ease. :)

All established labour......

Dd1.....4 hrs ...... Half dose of Epi

Dd2 .....got to hospital born 90 mins later .......gas

Dd3 ......2 hrs ....gas

Ds.......3 hrs ...... Gas. Felt him as he was my biggest at 9lb 2 oz lol

Had no stitches on any of them :)

Depends on so many factors. ds1 was 27 hours, ds2 was 25 hours. One was a hospital birth, the other a home birth.

1st 4 hours.. 2nd half an hour!!! I'm shittin myself this time to say the very least ! 2nd definitely hurt more it was like full whack pain in seconds and no steady build up! X

DS1 - Water broke first. 30 hours of active labor, 9 hour in transition and 6 hours pushing. (he was face up and i think thats why!).

DS2 - Water broke and i had random contractions 8-30 minutes apart for 30 hours. but they were SUPER easy contractions. Not hard at all. no pattern. But I hit active labor at 31 hours (i dont really count the first 30 in this birth bc it really was not effective nor was all that painful. easy peasy stuff). Anyways, i went from 4CM to placenta in 1 hour and 15 minutes, so SUPER SUPER FAST! Once real contractions started that shit got real. They would double peak and last over 3 minutes, then id get like a 10 second break and another 2-3 minute contraction. Super super intense, but it lasted a little more than 1 hour and i would take that any day over the back labor hell and super long labor i had with DS1.

2nd time was WAY faster. I did have shoulder dyscotia and 2 nuchal cords with him, so jut imagine how fast it could have been without that  ...my second labor was much nicer than my first, especially bc i didn't have any bloody back labor like i did the first time. BOth were intervention free water birth. First one was in the hospital, second one was at home.

2nd was much MUCH faster, much MUCH easier and quite a lot more painful. 1st labour was a persistent posterior baby which gave me awful back pain. I count it as a 22 hour labour, 6 of which I was in active labour. Emergency assisted delivery as DD1 became stuck.
2nd labour I was induced by breaking of waters, I sat almost bored for 2 hours with regular contractions that were not that painful and then BOOM they went from twingy to hellish pain! Unbearable pain really, couldnt breathe properly at all through them. She was out though within just 30 minutes of these contractions, 2 minute second stage.
