I ate cottage cheese this morning as I woke up starving and that's the first thing I craved. I looked on the tub and it said cultured but I couldnt see the word pasteurized. I ate about 3 tsp and then threw it all up 15 minutes later (ahhhh!). Is it safe to eat?

Cultured just means they add some bacterial cultures to make it clot. Arguably all cheese is cultured. I think I would look for one where the ingredients say Pasteurized milk, rennet...etc.

I'm so worried because it just says "cultured skim milk and cream."

Please don't worry at all!!!

Before I got my BFP I had unpasteurized goat cheese, unpasteurized feta, mayo, wine, deli meats... and the list goes on. And the little bean is just fine.

Just don't make a habit of it going forward... but you are JUST FINE! :)

Thank you for your words. I figured it would be pasteurized and didn't check the label until after I vomited. This is a mistake that won't happen again! I just finished crying... I guess the thought of compromising my baby's safety got to me.

Hmm. I have eaten cottage cheese a few times. I LOVE IT! Cheese is my thing right now. I have IBS and had my gall bladder removed a few years ago so I definitely do NOT suffer from constipation and have found cheese to be a comfort food. I honestly didn't even think about it before I ate it and am not worried. Please don't worry, especially since you threw it up anyway! :hugs:
