Hello ladies,:hi:
I am starting a new thread about TTC with an older hubby. I couldn't find any stories on here, so I hope I'll be the first!
I am 34 healthy all my tests are great. I had my ruptered appendix surgery so we think my tubes are damaged and scarred. That's why we chose IVF, natural one without meds. Look at my siggy.
We never checked my tubes and didn't do LAP.
My hubby turned 50 last year. He is a healthy, energetic, not over weight.
His SA is super! Better than (WHO).
I know that we need 2 to dance tango, but Still I think his age could be a problem of our infertility.
I am putting him on anitoxidant diet ,zinc, selenium lots of vitC and vitE, q-10, carnitine.
Also he has silver teeth fillings and I hope he doesn't have mercury toxicity. With every meal I give him Chlorella.

I am looking for a support and I hope with advice we'll be patient enough to wait for a healthy sperm and egg:flower:

Hey! From what iv read before, a mans ages doesnt make a difference! Good luck ttc xxx

Hi there, I don't think your DH is the issue. Age doesn't really effect men's sperm, 75 year old men could still become fathers. It is down to their count, mobility, morphology etc so if you have had him tested then it could just be 'one of those things'. I hope in time you will get your BFP, but my concern is that you are proceeding with expensive IVF when your tubes have never been looked at. I am only thinking of scar tissue maybe near your uterus which could impede your chances? I am not sure. GL though!

Thank you for your opinion, ladies.
I do know(the research is done) that older men are fertile. Their fertility decreases with age. It just takes the couple longer to conceive. Maybe we need more time.

1.Egg or a sperm?
My RE is sure that we havn't found a healthy embryo yet. We are working here with only one egg. We can't check the egg's dna. The quality also we can't see cos during IVF RE can't take away cells around an egg cos the sperm will not find their way. Only during ICSI RE must take the covering off.
We can check my hubby's sperm dna fragmentation. If everything is ok, we'll focus at me.

2.My uterus?
My hysteroscopy was done and it was perfect.
3 embryos didn't implant. I and my hubby were worried about my embryo implantation problems. My RE gave me lots of advice how to improve implantation.
3. My tubes?
I'll check my tubes next Thursday and if they open we'll try IUI. Next month sperm dna fragmentation will be done.
I havn't done my lap cos I don't trust dr. I think he will do more harm than good. My anatomy is different than other women. My appendix was wrapped around my belly botton and nobody could see on u/s and it was very difficult to diagnose.
If my tubes are open, but they are not functioning cos of abdominal surgery, than I have a risk of ectopic. (3 REs told me the same story)

Castor oil packs could help to loosen up the scar tissue around the tubes. I do apply them before my O.

dovkav, of course unlike women, men can have children at any age as they produce sperm all the time but as i said before I do think that sperm tends to deteriorate (chromosome wise) with age so men after 40-45 should look into that. for example, there is a 40-45 year cut off point for sperm donors because of the risk of infertility and miscarriage and research showed that older sperm donors reduce pregnancy success: https://www.hfea.gov.uk/docs/2010-05-13_SCAAC_paper_-_maximum_age_for_sperm_donation.pdf and https://www.sciencewa.net.au/topics...er-sperm-donors-reduce-pregnancy-success.html

your DH's sperm is super but it's hard to say what's the % of his sperm chromosomally normal. having said that I do not know what you can do apart from the lifestyle changes, vitamins etc which you are already doing. there is a lot of info on this on-line

men can produce healthy sperm till death barring medical issues (such as sperm damaging diseases like mumps or sex affect diseases like erectile dysfunction)

its women that become infertile with age
