Is it absolutely necessary to wash baby's clothes in non bio ?

I've done the newborn stuff in non bio as I got some free samples. Hubs and I both have eczema and any other washing powder other than Bold makes our skin sore, so I don't really want to switch our powder for fear of setting our skin off. But then I don't want to have to get separate powder just for the baby's stuff as I don't want to be washing baby's clothes separately all the time either.

Mmmm what to do ? Do you think it'd ok to wash baby's stuff in our powder and put it on an extra rinse ?

I use Fairy powder and yellow Lenor. I only have the fairy cause it was down to £1 at work for the huge 48 wash tub, but before I got that I used a plain colour powder. Amelia's skin is fine. I'm naturally a red head with very pale delicate skin, so I have to be so careful not to change too often, but she's been fine with it!
Good luck x

Congratulations on your upcoming arrival!
I love bold and always used it (smells great and doesnt aggrivate my sensitive skin) before LO but I was told I should use non bio so I got persil and I dont like the smell but continued washing our things in it with comfort pure conditioner.. through habit I accidentally used some bold that I had left a few times and there was no difference, had a load of LO vests in it so Im thinking its fine, but Ive got loads of non bio to use up so i think im going to have to finish it first! xxx

It's not absolutely necessary no. Ironically, Bold is the only powder that brings me up in hives! We wash LO's things in whatever we have in the house; it's just in case they have a reaction to the powder you use, and non-bio is normally good for sensitive skin. But TBH if your LO doesn't react to it, then keep using it; it obviously isn't causing any problems. If LO does react, perhaps you should wash their things separately to your own. I wash a full load of her things every other day anyway, so it's pretty easy to find enough things to wash.

I was isin surf before I had my oldest, I never changed, noone had even said anything to me about washing powder, so I just continued using it....I had to swap to a nin bio though as he had a reaction to the bio washing powder, so I have stuck with it since......I think so log as lo skin is ok when you use it, then there is no need to change your powder....

I don't use non-bio any more, I prefer regular Ariel, plus Comfort Pure, and none of us react to it at all. I've also used Bold 2-in-1 and that was ok, too. I don't do separate washes for our things and Adam's, all in together (nappies excepted).

You could try using a lot less than the manufacturer's recommended dose, because you do still get good results - I use soap nuts on my cloth nappies now but before I switched I used just 1 tablespoon of Ariel for a whole load of nappies and they came out sparklingly clean, and they had often been "heavily soiled". The vast majority of Adam's clothing is only ever extremely lightly soiled, so I'm satisfed that a greatly reduced amount of powder works fine. Less powder, less powder residue, less potential for irritation, especially if you do an extra rinse. :)

i used non-bio and comfort pure for about a 1 month.. then i just started using what i use on my clothes  surf and lenor! x

No, we always just toss his stuff in the wash with our own clothes.

Same here - I just use what we use for Madeline's clothes, and have done since she was born. We use Bold 2 in 1 - and she's not had any reaction to it - touch wood! x
